diy button boxes, pic related is mine i built yesterday. generic zero delay usb encoder from china. illuminated 12v led push buttons powered by 5v from the encoder pcb.

I guess because USB doesn't perform a CPU interrupt like PS2? Kind of a stupid thing to say though, the polling interval on USB is tiny.

Well literally zero delay is of course physically impossible.

But let's say something reasonable like 0ms delay. That's already impossible. Since even USB 2.0 Full Speed only guarantees one polling per millisecond. So even the most expensive gaming gear has a max update rate of 1kHz.

USB 3.0 might be better, but I doubt it's a USB 3.0 device.

These boards work great for simple boxes - I use one for a IGN + starter panel.
