My gutters are shit and causing my wood soffitts to slowly absorb water and rot. It's been on my radar since the Fall. I need to fix it all, but I just can't pull myself together to do it. I think it's going to be bad, but it's only getting worse. I feel so degenerate.
We also need a new roof($6K) and 2 massive oak trees cut down($3k). I'm holding out to have the roofers do that and put new gutters on. There'd go every extra penny I'd earn this year as opposed to paying off the mortgage early. If I didn't have a family, I'd aspire to living in a van. Real estate is a scam and a lie.

True story. If she said not to snitch, you already know she's fucking this other guy or at least planning to. If your best friend really is your best friend, you have to tell him that a) she's whoring around and b) you saw the call log, confronted her, and were told by her to not say anything to him. Whether or not he believes you, you will have at least done your duty as a friend...and you'll sleep better.

That actually works quite well in soft woods and is not a bad thing, the threads actually compress the wood outwards then after the screw has been driven the wood expands back into the thread. Was a common practice once upon a time, you can even do that with hardwoods if you drill a suitable pilot hole first.

Kenworth.

And it’s not the alternator. Some warehouse nog left the keys turned to “ACC” on Friday night so the batteries were totally fucked by Monday morning.

Also that truck has some wires crossed. The left brake light/turn signal trailer wire is somehow sending power to the reverse chime. But it’s not getting full power, the beeping from the turn signal is only about half as loud as the beeping when it’s actually in reverse.

Tiles came off in the shower because the grout cracked and water rotted the drywall behind it. Found plywood that’s same thickness as the wall and screwed it to the studs and construction adhesive glued tiles to the plywood. Fuck that, get the Harbor Freight electric chain saw and cut them down yourself. Then get the Harbor Freight 10 ton wood splitter for $90 and split all of that into firewood. Sell the wood on Craigslist for $20 per wheelbarrow full like everyone else. You'll get exercise this way, get a return on your investment in tools so basically free tools, and net a profit in the end. If you really have a family and aren't bull shitting us, this is a great opportunity to teach your kids about the value of hard work, and they will look up to you more as a dad. You can also rent a U-Haul trailer to trailer away the excess brush down to the city brush dump. I think it's like $20 per load to drop off so very cheap to do, and the city turns it into mulch for resale so helps the environment too. You can spend your free time watching TV and being a lazy piece of shit, or you can spend your free time doing something productive for your family, teaching your kids a life lesson, and bringing in more income for your household. Seems kind of obvious doesn't it?

is it a T800?

ive had that exact thing happen with a T800 Kenny box truck + pup

boss told me to just cut the wire as he was in a hurry so i never got to find out the problem.

but if its a kenworth it should have air brakes and have a seperate designated circuit for the brake light (the red wire).

the back up alarm is wired in paralell with the clear tail lights in the reverse (purple wire) circuit

pretty good chance you can just take the backs off the plug and might find a green or yellow wire plugging into a purple wire

>> No.1543124

>>1543110
That one is a little T330 or something. There’s a big jumbled mess of wires under the 5th wheel near the reverse speaker and I figured it was in that nest. The left turn signal on the trailer works intermittently and that reverse chime will sync up with the left signal and brake light sometimes but not other times. Plus the actual reverse chime is louder than when the turn signal makes it go on, which is why I think a couple wires in that nest are rubbing instead of an improper connection.

Meanwhile, a gentleman working in the trades...

The following is the 'Unusual Case' case column from the July 1991 issue of the trade magazine 'Medical Aspects of Human Sexuality', by William A. Morton, Jr.

One morning I was called to the emergency room by the head ER nurse. She directed me to a patient who had refused to describe his problem other than to say that he "needed a doctor who took care of men's troubles." The patient, about 40, was pale, febrile, and obviously uncomfortable, and had little to say as he gingerly opened his trousers to expose a bit of angry red and black and blue scrotal skin.
After I asked the nurse to leave us, the patient permitted me to remove his trousers, shorts, and two or three yards of foul-smelling stained gauze wrapped about his scrotum, which was swollen to twice the size of a grapefruit and extremely tender. A jagged zig-zag laceration, oozing pus and blood, extended down the left scrotum.

Amid the matted hair, edematous skin, and various exudates, I saw some half-buried dark linear objects and asked the patient what they were. Several days earlier, he replied, he had injured himself in the machine shop where he worked, and had closed the laceration himself with a heavy-duty stapling gun. The dark objects were one-inch staples of the type used in putting up wallboard.

To be continued...

Continued.

We x-rayed the patient's scrotum to locate the staples; admitted him to the hospital; and gave him tetanus antitoxin, broad-spectrum antibacterial therapy, and hexachlorophene sitz baths prior to surgery the next morning. The procedure consisted of exploration and debridement of the left side of the scrotal pouch. Eight rusty staples were retrieved, and the skin edges were trimmed and freshened. The left testis had been avulsed and was missing. The stump of the spermatic cord was recovered at the inguinal canal, debrided, and the vessels ligated properly, though not much of a hematoma was present. Through-and-through Penrose drains were sutured loosely in site, and the skin was loosely closed.

Convalescence was uneventful, and before his release from the hospital less than a week later, the patient confided the rest of his story to me. An unmarried loner, he usually didn't leave the machine shop at lunchtime with his coworkers. Finding himself alone, he had begun the regular practice of masturbating by holding his penis against the canvas drive-belt of a large floor-based piece of machinery. One day, as he approached orgasm, he lost his concentration and leaned too close to the belt. When his scrotum became caught between the pulley-wheel and the drive-belt, he was thrown into the air and landed a few feet away. Unaware that he had lost his left testis, and perhaps too stunned to feel much pain, he stapled the wound closed and resumed work. I can only assume he abandoned this method of self-gratification.

I bought a drill press at an estate sale. The deceased was a rebuilder of vintage cars and worked out of a large shop at their home. It had a full suite of stuff, not a single thing newer than the 1960s. The seller said a 3 gallon bucket full of rusty drill bits went with it. These were very large drill bits and had a Morse taper. Everything was rusty as fuck so I didn't bother digging through it and just loaded it into the truck. When I got home and unpacked it I found that it came with a huge number of lathe accessories. Either the seller didn't know what they were letting go of or didn't know it was in the bottom of the bucket. The drive back would have been another 25 minutes and it was the last day of the sale so I kept it all. Picture related is what I got minus about half the drill bits, which were soaking in Evaporust at the time. It all cleaned up okay and I had a nice thread about the clean up here back in July.

Is pic related worth it? I don’t even understand the purpose of tip tinning, is it for when you turn the iron off and store it or what? I know it’s supposed to prolong the tip and slow oxidation, but how and when?

There’s a large plastic gear inside that was stripping out. But I live in the city and I don’t really have a use for a chainsaw, so I just threw it away when I was done. I knew I was overworking it but it doesn’t matter, that’s what harbor freight tools are for. That was $40 well spent to get the job done and I actually bought another one for some more logs I have that are more like 8” to make firewood. I have two of those:

We had this half retarded kid a year or two younger than me at our HS and he was on the water polo team, mostly because his older brother was a SEAL and was an all state swimmer and shit when he was younger so nobody would fuck with kid.

One day he grabbed my ass in the shower and I pushed this half retarded (maybe 3/4 potato) kid and he flew across the place and almost cracked his head open on the tile. Everybody was amazed that I almost sent SEAL’s little bro to the ER, but nothing ever came of it and he never tried to grab my ass again.

Also was at the skatepark one day riding muh BMX around the bowl. I’m hauling ass pretty good and come up over the spine, back down, and some 10 year old kid on a skateboard drops in literally right in front of me and was inches from getting trucked by 200+ pounds of Bepis and metal.

I yell “Kid you gotta watch where the hell you’re going” and his friend is like “Dude, he’s blind”

Kid was actually impressive, he would rip up a mini ramp pretty good all by feel. There’s a Youtube vid of Tony Hawk interviewing him.

>My preference for it seems to be environmental.
I'm not even sure it's all that great for the environment in the long run. Unleaded solder is more likely to result in damaged components (which are then discarded) from the elevated temperatures to work it. And it's mechanically less stable than leaded solder so the joints are more likely to crack, especially as they age, which means even more devices are discarded as trash. Even without lead in the solder all of these electronics and components either contain hazardous chemicals themselves, or involve copious amounts of toxic byproduct in their manufacture.

I have always been curious about the goodies that compose the flux smoke which burns the shit out of my eyes whenever I’m soldering.

I’m not worried about the lead though. Doctors tell me that my blood is 48% lead from all my childhood years biting down on lead split shots while fishing and shooting the pellet gun. I’m using 60/40 solder so it will actually make my body less leaded over time.

This is a good suggestion. Just keep in mind, if you plan to cut down a large tree in a built up area, the chances of it hitting other things as it falls e.g. roofs are significant, and will screw your "economy" savings over.

That said, how hard is it to cut down a tree in small pieces using a gasoline chainsaw and a harness? Might be dangerous.

My second full time job as a chemical engineer

Having spent 14 months in the middle of a desert in Qatar with only homebrew and a fibre net connection (no bars, girls) I have managed to:

- Coordinate a team of 5 monkeys to insulate industrial equipment on a refinery under construction (took 3 months)
- Get a ritalin prescription from the local hospital (basically free)
- spend night before the 1 day weekend jerking off for 6hrs+
- transition through a process of self hate, then hate for the indians around me, then pure jaded apathy
- formed a good relationship with my imaginary friend Jesus Christ
- only fuck up a few minor things
- I can't return to my home country Australia because the police may or may not be looking to prosecute me when they found found photos large stash of amphetamine (1KG) I'd made

My home brew is getting better, its not bad now. But I go through a pack of cigarettes in 12hrs on my weekend.

I've been collecting my nail clippings since I was 14.

when my ex discovered them she was really angry about it for some reason and tried to pull some ultimatum shit with me. basically I chose the nails and we broke up

I still miss her sometimes Bros and my current gf doesn't give me the same feelings she did.

seriously though, why would she get so mad over my nail collection to the point she made me choose? it's not like I showed it to her to impress her. she literally stumbled across them by accident in the back of my drawer when she was looking for something . I tried to compromise at first because I thought she was making a big deal out of nothing. I said Ill hide them somewhere else or leave them at my parents house but she straight up wanted me to throw out what must've been 13 years worth of nail clippings at the time.

how soon am I supposed to let gf's? know about my nail collection anyways? my current gf doesn't know and I'm scared she will have the same reaction if she finds out.

>seriously though, why would she get so mad over my nail collection to the point she made me choose?
She had an idea of the sort of person you are, and collecting nail clippings conflicted with it. Apparently to the extent of being a deal breaker if you refused to change. Finding out an intimate partner is not who you thought they were can be emotionally traumatic, and people react to that in various ways. Whether this matters for your current situation depends on a number of factors, including the sort of relationship you have, both of your future intentions, and how honest you've been with each other about who you are and what you want.

Got a UV5R, too but only use it with the aftermarket 6AA pack.
Don't know if that qualifies as a confession?

Anyway, here goes nothing.
Just finished my 3,5y professional training as an aircraft technician and part of that was a 2 week internship at a small company who work on private planes, reworking frames, installing new radios and gps and the like.
Now in aviation, to this day manually driven titanium rivets are fairly widespread since they are easy to use and can't wiggle out because of the vibration in a plane.
There's special tools for driving rivets, but this company made me "press" them with fucking parallel pliers since those tools are "too expensive".
Although one may think this wouldn't be a big deal, this still gives me nightmares. If those rivets fail, some poor fucker sits in that plane one day and mid-flight the left wing breaks off.

Every time I consider working when it gets dark and cold I just plan to wake up fresh and get lots done.

I usually end up staying awake all damn night and doing a little bit in the morning then a little in the evening.

>Real estate is a scam and a lie.

Only if you bought before knowing anything about it. For your trees, watch ALL of the BC Faller Training videos on Youtube. It's pro training so you can connect the dots to DIY.

I use wire rope, snatch blocks and my truck to preload trees before the felling cut then drive off to finish. The cable puts truck further away than trees could fall and the truck takes up slack so they are guided most of the way down.

Watch ALL the tree cutting fail vidyas you can find. Then don't do that shit.

Self and wife roofed our rental house and save major bank. I hate roofing but the money convinced me. The money I've saved over the years bought all the tools and equipment I could want.
