There are all sorts of weaponized cane products on the market. Any sturdy cane is a weapon but some manufacturers cater specifically towards that, from regular canes with thoughtful geometry to warhammers to probably-illegal sword canes. Just make a sword cane

Cut bottom and top off off
>Cut in half
>Cut out half a sheath on each side
>Glue together
>Cut slit in top of dowel
>Biscuit join top and bottom to rest of dowel to hold together
>contact etsy Smith and ask for their regular pattern without the handle and with holes in the tang
>Cut handle out of wood
>Rivit it to the tang

I don't think Home Depot is going to have lead pipe, it hasn't been used in American plumbing since the 1980s (decades earlier in most places). OP's going to need another source, perhaps he could offer to replace some plumbing in an old house.

Depends on what you mean as a weapon.
Your options are learn cane self defense and get either a sturdy oak cane or get a flexible whippy cane like a bull pizzle (tanned bull penis bent into shape) or a rattan cane or a sjambok style material cane. Basically whether you want the cane to be a stand in for a quarterstaff/spear or a rapier.
My suggestion is focus on two design features, make sure it has a good grip below the handle so you can pick it up and use it like choking up on an axe, let’s you block easily, swing the handle like an axe head and use the tip as a stabbing weapon to strike the thighs, groin, or feet. Get a blunt pointy metal endcap if you don’t care about fucking up floors with it. You can also use it to reinforce shoving attacks and make them harder to dodge.
Second, is make a handle with a pointy pick axe type end. Much more instictively threatening to the face, harder to grab onto than a club ball, and hurts more. Also possibility of lethal force if used hard enough, but not obvious premeditation. Sort of like the difference between hitting someone with the claw end of a hammer vs an axe, much more believable deniability in a murder trial.
Um, depending on the law in your state/county, add a cleat below the handle to work as brass knuckles and protect your hand when striking with the handle, you can say it’s to hang grocery bags etc on while you open your car door or whatever.
Or you can go crazy with it, like building the cane around a capped pipe with mercury in a vacuum to increase the force of swings with it.

Or, the best option although it’s not super diy tier, is set it up with a stun gun tip. Probably the easiest way would be to make the end of the cane a small tripod capped with metal instead of a single foot and have two of the feet be the electrodes.

Sword canes are generally bs, and get you in more trouble than they’re worth. By the time you need to draw them they are too close to actually do so, generally they’re badly balanced and if you actually need a cane, you are unlikely to have the athletic balance to win a fight with a rapier, once they’re inside your guard you lose. If you draw one early, the cops get called and you get arrested and charged with brandishing a weapon.
The only way to use one well is essentially stab someone with the cane, they take the hit and grabs it to take it away from you, and you release the catch and stab them in the chest with the revealed blade while their hands are full. So that’s definitely an investigation and probably a murder trial.
Similarly, a regular switchblade is easier to deal with than a cane knife, and will pretty much always have a better designed handle. I suppose there is a point to a cane that deploys “ice spikes” to use as a spear, though?
Other thought, build in a canister of pepper foam into the handle. Pepper spray is like tear gas and gets everyone, including you, to some degree, while pepper foam is weaponized silly string.
There’s also pepper stream, which is a gel, you have to be more accurate than the foam but it’s less affected by wind apparently?
