post a question that at least hints at some intelligence on your part.

Im not intelligent, thats why am asking you.

If you use DC current they become heaters

How do i know if the coils are broken? Im suspecting they are, but im not entirely sure, and dont have the time to disassemble it.

>obtain circuit diagram of windings
>check continuity where there should be
>check insulation where there should be

if you're too lazy to take off the cover and sort thru the wires and check them with a multimeter, just throw it in the trash

>> No.1392766

>>1392761
you dont have time to disassemble it but you have enough time to sit on 4chan and beg for an easy solution to the problem that you didn't even include in your original post

Thanks!

Straight person here, too bad I wasn't asked, because I have a lot of info about AC motors.

Also notice how the reply count increased even though you both "saged"? That means its not working.

You'll need a meg-ohm meter and set it to test at a voltage slightly higher than the operating voltage. You'll rarely find an open winding, what happens is the insulation on the windings will break down and arc across each other under load. Sometimes you'll find a dead short, too, but in all my years of dealing with this crap, I've only seen that happen a couple of times. Circuit protection will usually trip before the windings get hot enough to burn all the way through to the core.

1. Open the connection box and smell it.
2. Use an avo meter to check the phases. U1-U2, V1-V2 and W1-W2.
3. Use an megger to measure U1-V1, U1-W1, V1-W1, U1-EARTH, V1-EARTH and W1-EARTH.

The megger is set to higher voltage then L1-L2. Let us know what comes out of this.
