Hey /dyi/ so I'm planning to start renting via airbnb in like 2 months, lately I have making some minor fixes and improvements inside the house, however I still have a lot of work to do in my front garden and backyard and also exterior paint.

I need advice with a good color combination for the exterior of the house (current looks dated and dirty).

Also any advice with colour and about the front garden will be appreciated, thanks.

Things to take in consideration:
> I live next to the US border in Texas so climate is dry and windy with cold winters and hot summers.
> house is facing north
> it doesn't rain a lot.

Fuck it’s so close to the neighbors house

Yeah houses in this neighborhood are next to each other which fucking sucks, I was planning putting something like Pic related in the neighbour's wall (house to the left) to minimize that look... I would ask to ask him for permission tho (his wall is next to his garage)

Roots do damage to walls, not likely friend. Also that's passive aggressive as fuck. How much did this wallpapered, drywall structure cost you? Why the fuck is the meter out front? That looks terrible.

>> No.1353379

>>1353375
Yeah I wont do it, it would have to be something that doesn't fuck up my neighborhood wall, and artificial plants would look terrible desu.

My parents bought the house like that
some time ago and the meters here in Mexico are usually in the front of the house.

Any ideas for the exterior colour tho?

I was thinking in like a mix of white/sand for the main colour and brown or velvet for the edges and details but I don't know.

are you in mexico or in texas?

Go with almost-white, some kind of light sand, for all the walls and garage door. White for the trim.

I don't think air BNB-ers will care that much as long as things look clean. Maybe a little fountain in your micro-garden, a cherry tomato plant if it can survive there (with a sign telling people to help themselves), but if you are not some special destination or amazing mansion/quirky tiny home then they just want a place to sleep and have orgies that is quieter than hotels.

The red car in the picture isn't sold in the US so I'm guessing Mexico or elsewhere in Latin America.

Open borders hold hands shit, 3rd world countries are beautiful vacation venues with no problems and smiling people. OP lives on the border so I wondered if those political outcomes personally effect his life.

Color looks fine. Looks like stucco. If stucco Maybe just rent a pressure washer and clean the house? Probably cheaper and easier.

Mexico, Ciudad Juarez to be specific

We get a lot of visitors from Mexico and other places, but not because of "tourism" mostly business travel or they come to the US consulate, some foreign exchange students as well (my house is quite close to the border with El Paso, TX 5 min drive to the consulate as well, so that helps.

Yes actually a neighbor did something similar i'll try to get some pictures as long as I get home so you can see the other houses (14 houses in a gated community or whatever they are called.

>>1354950
Yeah but they dont sell this place like a beautiful vacation venue, we dont have much shit to do here, the city is garbage, most people that come are because of the reasons I posted above.

>>1355184
Not stucco, the material is more porous, have enough money for paint (apparently, people here charged my neighbors 4000 MXN to paint all the exterior (aka 230 usd aprox lmao).

Had a cherry tomato plant in my backyard and it died, I have a big pear tree and plum tree in my backyard tho that I planted when I was younger, I like the sign idea thanks.

I could put a small fountain as you said as well but don't know which spot is the best...also grass doesn't grow in that spot because it doesn't get much sun so I need to think of an alternative I hate that look it has atm.

Pic related is a close up of the mini front garden

No I had slight traces of white paint in the lens of my cellphone and I didnt even realize until I saw the pictures but I was too lazy to remove it and take the pictures again.

My camera is a Oneplus 3T which in normal conditions takes very good pictures tbf

A photographer friend is going to help me taking pictures with a proper camera for the airbnb listing tho.

It is very hard to find a place in rental in my city, lots of houses for sale but not for rent, so if you rent you make a nice amount of money.

Why? its close to one of the "rich people" Uni, also close to the US border and to the US consulate (hundreds of people per day), also there arennt many hotels here in the city and they are expensive anyways compared to other cities.

Also not many airbnb in my city, people here dont know much about that stuff and properties are highly priced and are either in terrible zones or they are very ugly anyways.

Sounds like a shit hole, why would someone visit your area? Anywhere worth seeing already has lodging in place.
