If some wire comes loose, or something overheats and melts through insulation, and touches the grounded metal case, it should blow the equipment fuse or trip the breaker instead of zapping the user.
The extra safety is good because shit breaks and people do stupid things.
Same shit for polarized AC plugs. Might seem unnecessary but it's for safety reasons. If an equipment fuse blows because a hot wire touched the chassis, and the plug was unpolarized, there'd be a 50% chance the chassis is still hot and dangerous.

Years ago my dad used to work on trucks (mostly International and Mack) so we'd have a couple parked around the place that needed servicing.
Big old diesel engine blocks stay warm for a long time, so on cold winter nights stray kitties would like to sleep around/in them. More than a few got gibbed by fast moving accessory belts and one managed to end up in a turbo after the whole induction side was taken off to be cleaned out.
Funnily enough the turbo was this fucking monster, steel bladed one and didn't even get damaged or it just hadn't the time to spool up to full tilt, same can't be said for the cat as it was an ungodly amount of work to get all the finely ground bits out

This is actually a very good brand of connector, 3m ms2. Costs like $5000 for a tool setup to do the big splices.

The problem is someone walked off with the punchdown tool for the normal techs and then the normal repair and installation techs started ripping the modules apart and scotchlocking the pairs together instead of using he proper punchdown tool.

Very. I feel your pain though. Idiot in my house replaced the 40yr old galvanized trunk lines with pvc in a similar bargain bin fashion but clearly left the galvanized stub ups and shutoffs at every device. Dumbass told me when I inspected the place he wasn't sure why he still had low water pressure and red water at all the taps.

Waste lines are all a mix of old cast iron and pvc with lots of flex connectors, hose clamps, and silicone running to a 30 year old septic. Still leaks a little bit in the basement with every flush. Plan to replace all that in the future too.

I bought 600ft ft of pex and propex tool to just redo all the supply lines from the meter back. Not even worth attempting to salvage the hack job. One positive note I never saw in my previous homes, there's fake doors in the hallways that allow access to plumbing for showers/tubs.

We'd have programs that you'd change a variable or two to change the bolt or tapped hole patterns for really common stuff. Like, make a regular pattern of threaded holes in so many rows by so many columns, with such and such separation.

Since that balcony almost certainly isn't rated for more than 1 tonne of mass, I wouldn't trust that balcony whatsoever to act as a swimming pool. While the weight of these masses would change slightly with altitude and even air pressure, this isn't ever going to be significant.

Told her she needs to connect the white and red to the sound bar and yellow to her TV. She said that since the yellow doesnt connect to the sound bar if she can just leave it disconnected on her TV. She was trying to connect her Wii to a sound bar and TV. Made a simple diagram. She still fails at understanding it.

Had a customer that wanted to connect his Wii to his TV using a USB cable because his LCD TV didn't have composite inputs.

Have a lot of people that try to buy the cheap ass ONN Micro USB cables to use with their iPhone or Android Phone the uses USB-C. I was made to fire one of my guys fired for being 5 mins late back from lunch break because some guy slipped a disk and he was the guy who made the call for the ambulance and stayed with him until someone from machining (slipped disk's department) came to take over.

All while I had a guy who never turns up on time, consistently drunk and has been drunk to the point where he falls over walking in a straight line, steals, lies, never believes he has done anything wrong when I am making him sign his 15th warning for the same fucking thing and has had the police turning up looking for him on occasion for statements. He was supposed to be a trades support so he was assigned to help particular people who needed an extra hand. You would be on a ladder, a roof, in a hole, under a car, wherever and you would send him for something and he would disappear for hours he would even leave the directors hanging. I can't even remember why he finally got fired but it was for none of the above.
