Buying and selling shit from thrift stores and garage sales. Worked at a consignment shop all throughout high school and picked up some knowledge of antiques, clothing, purses, and household shit. I basically just do it for fun at this point though. Waiting for bites on a few Ralph Lauren pieces and a vintage stoneware plate set right now.

God I feel so happy watching that show. Happy that I don't make my living sifting through a storage bin I just bought for $300, getting excited by a stained mattress I can sell for $50 if I'm lucky. God damn, what a way to make a shitty living.

My gf started restoring old damaged photographs at work and turns out she's a fucking savage at it - people pay a lot for this.

If you're good with electronics fucking phone screens is where it's at, if you're in the UK go up to a Deliveroo scooter/motorcyclist and offer them an alarm system for their vehicle - so many scooters and YBRs are being stolen here and with courier insurance for them you can only get 3rd party. I want her to start giving her business card to customers who always request her personally on the sly and start her own thing.

She had a customer come in who said she wanted her photos restoring of a ballroom dance she was at with Queen Elizabeth II when she was young. Turns out she still keeps contact and sent them to the Queen of fucking England.

Yeh it is exactly that. Some of the restorations are incredibly impressive when the original has a lot of damage.

if you have the dimensions for bridgeport style wiper covers, the little panel that holds the felt wipers, you could make one (aluminum) that both holds felt wiper strips and allows you to mount a way cover material, like:

https://www.mscdirect.com/product/details/31937667

or if you're really desperate for right now, how about a gucci ass mousepad with some silly logo CNC machined into it.

like an aluminum rectangle maybe 3/16" or 1/4" thick, with a square depression milled into it for a mouse bearing surface material, with nice beveled edges (could include some tapped holes near the bottom to attach a wrist-rest strip or something to keep your hand off the cold metal), and at the top put your "gucci" logo of some sort.

A way to hold it down to a desk would be appreciated, I expect. I wonder if adjustable height suction cups on the corners would be worthwhile? Or at least a provision for using some kind of adhesive strip.

Or maybe add some weight to it, to keep it from sliding (lead inserts?) hell just make it out of steel.

Now sell it for $100+ to gamers on ebay or amazon (it doesn't take long to set up a store to list items on Amazon btw).

What do you think? Worthwhile? Some 1/2 aluminum plates would be good material to start with. Man, a lot of PC stuff is just not durable at all. Making a billet PC case you sell for like $400 would probably sell even, if you have that large of a working envelope.

A stamped and hardened sheet metal keyboard would be fucking fantastic too, but then you'd be CNC'ing a die and need the rest of the press (heavy weight go up/down). Would be bad to skimp out on the stamping part and leave sharp corners, of course.

Hardened sheet metal can be one of the most beautiful things around.

Study chopper parts. You might not perfect your process soon enough for the holidays, but look at what very simple bungs and spacers sell for. Round SS for axle spacers (6" lengths buyers can saw to size would do well) and cold rolled rod for bungs (small threaded, weldable cylinders for welding into frames to mount accessories) would be good.

Check this shit out. You could profit selling them for much less via an Ebay store, and none of this stuff is patentable.

Clean gutters.

I know a guy who does snow removal and yard work. He has started specializing in doing gutter cleaning more and more. He uses a pressure washer attachment for most and it takes him like 3 minutes to do a gutter.

He mows lawns too and in one neighborhood he mows the entire half of a block. It's in a cul-de-sac of McMansions and he can do all of the front yards at the same time. He just makes his rows perpendicular to the house. It looks pretty cool too since all the lawns are uniform.
