Okay guys, so I bought a toaster for on sale at my store. $5 for it. I bought it because I want to modify it. Was thinking a wireless charging dock to start with, but open to discussion and ideas. Lol.

It's a shitty ToastMaster brand toaster, but still gets the job done. Already have a legit toaster anyways, I just bought this to see what I can do.

I actually added a usb to mine to charge my phone while it cooks my bread. But when the phone charges it drains the toaster and my toast turns up raw.

Please don't do this. It would destroy the toaster.
Jump of a building it's easier.

Wireless charger built in toaster. Put phone in bread slot, push down to turn on charging. Train house guests to use it.

Three months later, replace with real toaster.

Assuming you're serious, why? For serious toaster modifications, the real trick is PWM dimmers on each of the elements to tune your toaster for even browning on crumpets and toast, with a varying duty cycle over time optimised to getting perfect heat penetration through the toast every time, which should also be adjustable for different toast thicknesses and densities.

Secondly, make it much easier to clean. My flat has vegetable oil dripping out of the bottom of our toaster and I'm not asking why, but since things like that and crumbs do not all come out when the toaster is shaken and has its tray removed, perhaps a hinge-open toaster would be an interesting idea. Of course, the first thing you should do is replace the bimetallic-strip-based timer with a digital one with an LCD displaying time and temperature.

Another idea is to make your toaster a custom toaster printer by using a polarising black&white LCD panel with the backlight replaced with the heater so that you can print custom images onto your toast with the browning of the bread, via USB or bluetooth or wifi. A simpler idea would be to just have a wifi-enabled toaster that connects to your calendar and activates itself in advance of when you're wanting to eat breakfast, because you're a lazy bastard who can't wait 2 minutes to cook a slice of toast.

Or just cannibalise it for the nichrome.

I like doing this kind of shit. Should toss a lithium pack in there and powered usb hub for charge devices on the go. Cord storage and blutooth speaker so friends can charge their shit.
