That's actually true, at least if by "better" you mean it covers better.
The supposedly funny part was that the paint store will know you're a pro when you ask them to put a shot of black in white paint.

Imitation crab meat was an old, very successful troll. Dude asked a stupid question and pretended to do something interesting. In the end he did nothing. Har har.
And that donut shit has been going on lately.

I don't even know how to explain this one. /diy/ is just suddenly obsessed with making doughnuts.

I think it started with a thread where the OP was obsessed with making a machine that would automatically make him doughnuts in the morning, not realizing that most of the work in making doughnuts is preparing the dough, and that cooking doughnuts can be done in a hands-off way (i.e. drop them in the fryer/pan and walk the fuck away for a few moments while they cook)

Get bread maker that automatically mixes dry flour from a hopper and water plus yeast/sugar/etc. Adjust to make donuts with mix, have scooper mechanism scoop and deposit raw donut batter in smallish balls onto conveyer, make device to stamp/make donuts plus donut holes(waste not want not), drop them into rotating hot oil canal, and automatically scoop and drop into warming plate for automatically created donuts. Hard Mode, sprinkles covered, jelly filled, fancy rose type donuts being made automatically.

gray covers better than white. that's about it.

If you're painting already white walls then you don't need to meme out with le shot of le blacc :^) since you'll get fine coverage anyway

"Shot of black" causes the white paint to turn yellow over a few months. It's the slowest burning troll around. It's likely you won't even notice until someone new comes to your house and asks about the piss coloured walls.

actually it's funny how hard it is to repaint a dingy ceiling with high quality flat white and get it to cover in one coat. so you always add a shot of black to flat white and to white trim paint, exterior and interior. it just works.

and latex paint does not yellow. light colored oil paint yellows after enough time, whether it has a shot of black in it or not.

What's wrong with wood screws? I assumed they'd be better in every way if they were predrilled and driven in well and thick enough. Though I can't imagine builders going around predrilling all their holes.

Wood screws have a much smaller cross section than a similar sized nail, and so they have gave less sheer strength. I've never used structural screws, but a quick Google tells me they are made of higher quality steel, which also solves the problem.

>so they have gave less sheer strength
I have never seen, nor heard tell, nor have a clear idea how nails or screws in wood are supposed to fail in shear. The weakest steel used for the task is maybe twenty times stronger than the wood, so any shearing stress would be turned to tension as the steel tears through the wood well before it reaches its own failure stress.

You forget the POWER of Chinese made screws. I once twisted the head off of a woodscrew made out of 100% pure Chinesium using only a hand screwdriver and I am a limp-wristed 4chan dweller!

My favorite event was when a sheet of plywood 'popped off the wall' in our shop when about half the screws holding it up all failed. You know that is some shitty steel when you have a 50/50 shot of being stronger than 1/4 inch plywood when trying to hold up 40 pounds of flatscreen TV.

But yeah, generally the head of the screw is going to tear through the wood or the threads will rip out before the screw itself does. Assuming you by something decent.
