I used to work with someone that was dealing with a much larger tree that was on its side. Apparently they didn't know about the forces and just tried to cut into it from the top down. It shifted and pinched the bar, and they had to track down another chainsaw. Could've been much worse.

As for hydraulics, I've seen the pictures of people's hands and arms lanced by a jet of hydraulic fluid. It just peeled the flesh away.

When I was a kid and I misbehaved, my father used to punish me by pulling his shirt over his head, and tucking his arms in, and holding an ax through the head hole in his shirt. He would then refuse to do anything that an ax with legs couldn't do, so for example, instead of cooking dinner that night he would just smash the cutlery draw with his ax head, and I would go to bed hungry. Or if I wet the bed, he would smash the bedsheets with his ax head. This might sound 'fun' but he was a fucking drunk and used to do it to traumatise me. my mother was scared to intervene because apparently he did the same to her and once hit his ax head into her asscheek and gave her a pretty bad scar. He used to do the ax man whilst making horrific metalic noises with his mouth which he could do even when drunk.

so, my biggest fear is any of my axes growing legs and attacking me. My father is dead now but I still have nightmares about his ax personality. so its not really safety related (I am very careful when working) but it is my worst DIY fear and I do get irrational if any of my axes goes missing that maybe it got up and is now sentient.

Get a set that is rated more than your vehicle weighs. I have a 3 ton rated set, used them for years with a several different vehicles, never once sagged. Bought them to replace the steel set that pancaked under the weight of a F250. Plastic doesn't rust.

Do you have a 3 ton set? Get a 6 ton set, wider footbase, and most of the time you'll have enough height by the 2nd click. Keep a puece of 2x4 around because you might need an extra inch to get them under some low cars. Always check to make sure it's sturdy by pressing down and on the sides of the car once it's on the stands. Inspect your stands every time before use. If you even think your stands are bad throw them out. Damage them beyond use or hide them in a trash can so no poor fool takes them and get's themselves killed. If all for feet aren't on the ground take the car back up and readjust them til they are.Only put them under structural parts that don't move, no control arms. Always set them at the same height. Don't go under a car on ground that is noticeably unlevel. And always, always, always block your wheels. I don't care if your parking brakes are on, I don't care if it's the driven wheels and you're in park. Block your motherfucking wheels.

If the car is old and I don't trust the jack points I'll usually have redundancies, like 2 hydraulic jacks raised just enough so they're touching the car but not applying any upwards pressure.

Rule number 1 about safety, if it seems like a bad idea, it is.

Have a FPE panel with breakers notorious for their inability to trip, or defective breaker of a different brand. Put screw in wire, turn breaker on, dead short created and it starts arcing. Breaker doesn't do shit because it is trash, arcing continues and viola there is your fire.

Been in several hot fucking attics (electrician).

Most memorable was this summer I had to replace an attic fan (not the whole house kind). These small units kick on at a certain temperature to remove heat from the attic. It was around 1 p.m. on a very hot an humid day. Access was in garage, had to crawl through some parts to get to other end of house. I was soaking wet like I got out of the pool just by reaching there. All said and done with I kept adjusting the thermostat to see what temperature it would shut off at.

When I was at university, we had an ultracentrifuge (~40k rpm) blow. The rotor, which should have been replaced several times by that point, split in half at full speed, launched itself through two drywalls and a brick wall before sailing majestically across the campus and mercifully not killing anyone. The centrifuge itself jumped through a drywall and 'merged' with the mass spectrometer on the other side (also a total write off).

The real horror was that the crowded break room was on the same floor and if the heads had broken at 90 degrees from where they were, someone would almost certainly have died.

So you are putting one of the front wheels on the hill with the other on the flat to get under? No way to say if this is safe or not without seeing the situation, just remember that grass can get really slick when wet and pulling a spanner might just be enough to get it sliding on a steep hill.
If you are really worried about it dig a little hole you can drop the lower tire in to secure the vehicle.

Ive been hit by 120v a plenty of times, just make sure you never complete a circuit from arm to arm (through the heart) and you will be fine. Obviously try to avoid being shocked but if your doing something that might shock you hold one arm tight behind your back. Rubber soled shoes help too but the capacitance of the human body is enough to still get bit by AC. If you live over in yurop i cant say this will work, 200v+ is pretty scary territory and i wouldnt work on that without 00 rated gloves until im certain its dead. i got back to about 80% functionality now but it took years of physio and countless $$ so it could have been a lot worse. sucked to learn how to walk again and took forever to get back to work
the accident put a lot of strain on my marriage too and of course the mental agony of everything. my worst nightmare was worse than i thought it would be but im very thankful to be alive and mostly mobile.
