My family owned a house moving business in the 1970s-1980s. That was a common conversation. One time when they were moving a house through a small town, they had to lift someone's house trailer up in the air with 2 cranes in order to drive the wide house around the turn through the street. Actually, one was a crane, the other was a wench cable slung over the top of a live electric pole with a dozer pulling the other end. The family was in the trailer at the time.

It was nothing, but that shit every single day. Now everything is safety first.

Years ago my parents ran a general store out in the bush, place was about 100 years old and had about that many years of extensions and stuff to it, the original house adjoining the shop and they bought it off some old folks.

First 'secret' door was from the living room into a bathroom hidden behind wood panelling that you just pushed the wall and the door swung into the bathroom en suite area. That was 'kind of cool' in a strange kind of way, but mostly unnecessary.
Second took a lot more fuckery to find.
>So they where wanting to expand an area where some drink fridges where, replace 2 fridges with one big one.
>I got my tape measure, measured from the front of the store to the back of the house which adjoined it
>Calculated the wall thicknesses
>Somewhere there's about 3ft missing...
>Did a second to be sure
>Did the internal measurements and yeah, there's 3ft missing behind the fridges

Had a good hard think about it for a while, told my dad and we figured, 'fuck it' and took a hammer to the wall behind the fridges, hell its not like it would be seen after a new fridge was put in
>BAMF!
>Holy shit!

Shined a torch in there and sure enough there's a fairly big space about 3ft by 10ft in there full of a hydroponic grow lab!
Had all the lights wired off the power points where the fridges would go, water was gravity feed into the beds from a big drum and probably about a half dozen fertiliser beds. Called the local copper to come down and have a look at it, he's just shaking his head and muttering about 'knew those old bastards where selling dope!' but he was never able to prove it.
The really clever thing was the door into it was just a little 2x2ft panel in the back of a built in wardrobe that you pushed and it slid in a little bit, then across on these really good castors. You'd never see it, hell you'd never really be looking for it either.

that reminds me of stories I heard from my papa who was one of those old school moonshine runners that would heavily rework and customize their cars. One of the things they would often do, is run a pipe from the carburetor to the cab, so they could spray ether straight into the carburetor as a poor-mans nitro.

I also heard stories about he supposedly built one of the first ever straight-shift transmissions
"on-the-tree", which he used to dominate street races back in the day. He aslo supposedly had all kinds reps from ford and chevy and other companies trying to get a look under his hood and see what he did to try to steal it for themselves. But he refused to sell his secrets even tho im sure they all eventually figured it without him.

Most countries/states/municipalities have laws allowing them to seize or lien property harboring these types of grows. Its a liability. By not reporting it, they run the risk of someone else (future owner, building inspector, contractor, police led back to the house on a related or unrelated investigation) find and reporting it. They could probably fight it in the courts and win, but it would be a long and expensive process. Immediately going to the cops is a rational move.

should i go into my gunsafe just to prove some faggot wrong on a mongolian pottery bbs?

there's nothing inherently unsafe with looking down the barrel of a gun. this is what happens when people with autism discover the 4 rules.

you're dead right, there's nothing necessarily unsafe about looking down the barrel of a gun, but it's safer not to do it in the first place

He's right though
I just scrap all the barrels in my guns the second I get them, it's better to take no chances. Can't look down the barrel of there is none.

Anon can look down the barrel of his gun if he wants.

It's a vital part of cleaning your gun to ensure you don't have any deposits stuck on the barrel stopping it from being cleaned. It can also be used to inspect barrels for other damage like rust.

Probably not as much as you think! The bullet is heavier than the case. The case will rupture and almost all the energy does out and around. You might get cut up and injured, but it will almost certainly not be life threatening.

you disassemble your gun?

>> No.1221754

>>1221726
You don't? This is /diy/ AND guns here, if you're not taking it apart then not only are you missing an opportunity to learn about your weapon and get familiar with it, but you're failing to service and maintain your weapon so that the next time you catch jamal with your wife it doesn't misfire due to smegma in the barrel.

My guns (and bullets) are stored in a locked cabinet and their bolts are in a separate drawer.
I'm a single, "new old stock goods", no wife or gf to worry about. but if some faggot breaks in trying to steal my Minori Aiba 2010 winter edition figma, they're gonna get blasted.

That's actually the least likely thing to happen to you if the bullet itself is facing you, because the brass will spread radially from the centre of the powder, and there's no brass facing you. Also I'm wondering whether the hammer would even fire the round if there's no barrel to stop the cartridge from moving forward, though I'm not gun savvy enough to know.

i don't know what is more interesting, the backbox 7ft off the ground or that someone has marked each joint individually with both connection and rotation where it doesn't matter at all and how couldn't they just remember where each part went it seems like there aren't that many. was it taken elsewhere to be assembled then put in? i don't understand
