Tried to make a IR LED Hat/mask to hide my face from cameras but was out testing and the IR LEDs were not that bright and was wondering if any one could help me find some super bright Ir LEDs that would cover my cover my entire head.

Pic is an example of what i want

interesting. although that seems like asking to be accosted by security.

made something like this?
http://justlive.us/featured-posts/diy-make-yourself-invisible-to-video-cameras/

search ebay for high intensity ir led
or
radioshack Model: 276-143

It not like i'm going into Walmart but i have used them before at BestBuy and other stores it great for people that won't to hide there face anonymously

>> No.114020

if your trying to use this during the day, it wont be affective
they work best in darker places

people started making these "masks" for places like britain where there are so many cctv cameras that they literally have cameras watching cameras

Wow that doesnt exactly look too comfortable or inconspicuous. Counter-productive if anything, the sort of thing that'll get you shot 7 times by anti terror police on the Tube.

its not illegal to hide your face from cameras
the only recent law that disallows concealing your identity is if you are participating in a protest
as far as what these hats look like, the one in the picture with the green hat was just for his diy
one would use a hat that's color matches the led itself or using sub micro leds
there are also hats sold in hardware and hunting stores which have regular leds built into them, these could be swapped for ir leds but in doing so, the viewing angle of the actual light coming out of the led itself is limited, so more would still have to be added
another led mask could be made out of led sunglasses that can also be found in large stores

You could buy a pare of these and replace the LEDs with Ir Leds

these would pretty cool if you had one of those old sony video cameras with night vision
(like that ghost adventure show)
go exploring in the night with everything lit up in ir light!
the hat would light up massive areas

walking around wearing a lit flare? You understand that you can't see IR LEDs with yours eye so the only thing this does is prevent cameras from seeing you people still can

yes but if you're watching a bank of monitors, the one with the lit-flare-man is the one a sensible person would be watching...

this is a very real truth to not use these devices indoors, your only asking for trouble
anyone on a store's cctv monitor watching a guy walk around with the sun on his head would definitely make me suspicious

There's ccTV cameras That can see infrared spectrum and real TV cameras that view the ultraviolet spectrum the same as human eye is capable of but Real Tv cams are much more expensive and what they use for making movies. hey im not sure if you can help out with this, i have i zune, pic related, but it doesnt work like it supposed to, it freezes on playback on most tracks, ive already formatted and reinstalled the firmware but it keeps fucking up, anyone know a way to fix it or anything cool i could do with it? mod it etc. thanks in advance.

>> No.114555

So I have a quick thought, although it might not go anywhere: what would swapping out the led for an 808 nm 500+ mW diode do? Things I can think of are:
MUCH fucking brighter (to cameras, obviously)
Need to be pretty unfocused I would imagine, but would a few suffice?
At that power you would easily blind someone, so I guess you could only use it at night.

Better cams would have an IR filter and only see visible light.

>> No.114800

I would recommend something like the Vishay VSMY7850X01-GS08. It has a good 120 degree angle and 5-7 of them along the brim of a ball cap should work well. To save power and mess up the camera AGC you can cycle them on/off sequentially just make sure they cycle faster than the camera refresh rate.

No "normal" camera has 100% IR blocking, even with a filter in place. The problem is that the imager is hyper-sensitive to infra-red radiation so the manufacturers need to drop the levels down so that the sensor is not overloaded.

>> No.114805

>>114784

For that you could use a synchronized strobe light.

>> No.114807

>>114803

Most 'normal' cameras have 100% IR blocking. The sensors are very sensitive to IR (though not more sensitive than IR). Good cameras have an IR filter to avoid IR fucking up the color balance (also people are easier to recognize in vis, skin looks weird and featureless in IR)

eg:
http://www.maxmax.com/camera_technical.htm
That's for DSLR, but the tech is the same.

>> No.114809

>The sensors are very sensitive to IR (though not more sensitive than IR)

er, though not more sensitive than to visible light

>> No.114815

>>114807

I guess I don't have any normal cameras then because all of them "see" infra-red quite well. Even my shitty Nikon D90 can see the blinking LED of a remote control or wireless headset.

It'll see it fine if you remove the internal IR filter. It sits right in front of the sensor. Tricky, but it only takes about 10 minutes.

i'm curious about this too, altho note that it would be probably attract a lot of attention from dash-mounted police cameras, and we have shitloads of big-bro CCTV on motorways here that would pick it up too, so you'd want a switch inside the car ideally.

>>114805
could you elaborate a bit further?
