Is this even healthy? I mean, won't it kill you?

>> No.108350

this works, but it tastes like dog ass. fermentation doesnt require much more than sugar, water, and yeast in the right temp range. if you do this, make sure you keep it as clean as possible, because introducing any extra bacteria will make taste even more evil. also, it is optimal to keep it at about 68 degrees. good luck.

Yea, it a terrible idea, I only posted it because I wanted to get the topic rolling with some content.

you can view a very cool vortex of flame by evaporating a small amount of rubbing alcohol in one, (pour in a splash, not much, cover and shake until no liquid remains) and holding a flame near the hole.

very cool.

Take them to a store and ask for a refund. Those things are $10 each. People steel them from my workplace all the time.

Put a bolt on a gas stove. Melt a hole thru the top. Aquarium tubing thru then a knot - instant wine brewing kit!

Inspired by this guy's tubing and Mad Scientist's hampster stuff, I would be inclined to make an aquarium. Connect a bunch of them with long fat clear plastic tubing ("how" is an exercise for OP, but probably at the flat spot behind the handle). Have an external filter draw water from one bottle, pump it back into the bottle furthest from the first one. Fill with gravel, small plants, snails, and lots of little fish.

God damn, I was just reading up on how to make mead.

Yeah it seems inexpensive to make a hell of a lot of it.

Gonna try this as an experiment.

Fuck.

Mead seems like the best way to go for now, wonder what it will do to the plastic? Wouldn't want to ruin it for further use.

>> No.109767

Don't use plastic containers to ferment mead. Oxygen will migrate though the plastic and oxidize it.

There is a link in the sticky about mead.

this isn't true. people ferment beer and cider and mead in plastic __food safe__ containers all the time.

It really depends on the type of plastic. recycle 1 and 2 are fine, 7 is a crap-shoot (since there's really no telling what compound it is) but likely will work.
