Okay, so I'm finishing up school and I get ten thousand bucks as soon as I finish.
Now would it be possible for me to just buy some land like ( http://www.landandfarm.com/search/?MaxPrice=10000&Sale=True&Lease=False&Auction=False ) and build an underground house for cheap?

Mainly, how hard and expensive is it to build underground houses?

You need to get out a calculator and get ready to do a shit load of math. You need to calculate the weight and volume of earth above your house/bunker and the surface of your house so you can calculate load. There's a starting place for you.

Have you considered burying a shipping container? You know, one of those big rectangular steel crates they use on ships. They're really cheap and basically fucking ideal for something like this.

Why underground anon?

For ten thousand, probably not. The only option that is economically viable is to bury a shipping container. As you bury it it will be crushed in the process and if you are in it you will die. Then you will not have any monetary problems anymore.

Have you considered not posting about shit you have no idea about?

Cargo containers are not meant to handle large static loads across the surfaces of their faces.

They support an internal load across the floor to the outside structural members on the corners and edges which then transfer the loads through the vertical members of each container to the deck mounting.

People have buried these things and been lucky to survive the catastrophic failure

But why underground??

>> No.1062188

Well you have to start with zoning and city ordinances. Im a contractor here in orange county, CA and it'll cost you an arm and a leg to get anything underground. Permit costs alone are thew the roof. Second if you're going underground you'll need concrete, a lot of it. Minimum 70 yards and at around $102 FOB/Yard 4500PSI, throw in a pump, finishers, etc. I'd quote you $110,000 for a storage container sized home underground, no hookups.

Around $125,000 with hookups but then you need a permit for that too so throw that in. You can't live in metal underground you need concrete bottom line and mixing 70+ yards by hand will cost you more in day laborers than just ordering it from a mix plant.

You invest that shit you retard. Then maybe in 10 years or so you can get some good land and build your own house and have several basements and a secret entrance behind a waterfall or whatever the hell you want. Don't spend it immediately invest and save it.

Yeah..... I realized that they weren't being serious once I had a better look at their pic and saw the container was full of crab meat.

But in my defense they have been numerous fucking idiots that have come on here thinking that burying a shipping container is a good idea.

dig a hole and bury a large diameter pipe. Most of these pipes are actually designed to support that kind of weight.
