Anyone made one?

It's basically a lamp made from ice-cream sticks-
You'll have to screw holes on each side of the stick and then kind of "weave" it together with some kind of cord. The cool thing is that you can morph it the way you want because it's still flexible.

OP here

You can buy them for 95$ per 5550 sticks or you just contact some manufacturers. They have pretty low tolerances so you can even get them for free. Most manufacturers even burn the ones they can't use.

You can't. Only way is to change back to FF and use the plugin.

There's also some sort of hack for Greasemonkey plugin, but that's only for auto D/Ling images, it doesn't retain original filenames like the not4chan plugin does.

Also, cool looking project, not much of a lamp, though.

I know this is already awesome but...Is there a way to make it move..?
OP's lamp looks a fuck ton like the "moving skyscraper" they made up for moscow/dubai

>> No.107335

>>106583
Don't know about Chrome... In FF you can use the 4chan plugin to expand all the images inline and FireShot to snap a pic of the entire page.

Anyway, awesome project. I'm wanting to give this a go now.
How tall are the lamps you're making OP? And how long does it take you?.... Does seem a bit tedious.

>> No.107451

Could you do a simple ms paint tutorial? Like just basically how to weave it and like a base pattern?

>> No.107469

>>107268
The weight would be tricky, but if you ran a pole up the middle with a disc on top, you could rotate the t
op or bottom while keeping the other stationary and make it wind into a helix and back. I'm sure there's some way to get more sophisticated motion out of it.

Can anyone give an idea of how long a typical lamp like this takes to create? I am intrigued.

OP's picture looks like it has 14 sides, but the subsequent pictures were of an octagon. How long do you think each one would take?

>> No.107491

>>107488

Also, can someone give an idea of what would make a good core / center material for the lights? I can't quite tell what the center is made otu of in the pictures. Where would one get long flexible metal or something that you could bend?

>> No.107721

>>107491
So basically this (>>104805) lamp has no core at all. But this one (>>106550) does. I addet those pictures of another lamp to show the weaving process. Lamp one is from a german trash designer and costs 1200$. I thought it's way to expensive for such a simple building process

>>107488
You have to consider that you have to drill 6000 holes for a lamp like this (>>106059)

You can calculate the number of sticks this way:
1500mm [General Height] / 2mm [Thickness of sticks] / 2 [mutual] ) * 8 [Sides] = 3100 Sticks

I think over all you can built one in 6 hours

Ah! Thanks! So pretty much string those babies together, put a support on the bottom with a core (Where you run the LEDs around)?

Thanks for my next project!
