Im planning on the long term to build myself a clean room.
Has anybody tried to DIY hepa filter? Is it doable?

I've installed camfil farr biological grade filter systems on morgues and biological labs in the past.

If you're talking that level of clean, then no. Not DIY able.

What about a Elctrostatic Precipitator then?

But restoring a old military bunker all by yourself. With included blast doors... Thats within the /diy/ realm.

Positive pressure or negative pressure clean room?

If people can do it than people can do it. You are a fag and you deserve to be shot by a homosexual terrorist.

Nice. I think this is the least of your problems.

Yeah im aware.
But i did say long tern.
Even having a clean room is a awesome thing to do.

I've done both. Positive pressure was more common but negative pressure were for higher risk specifications.

Well you can buy a filter and a fan and call it DIY if you like but I doubt it would match any realistic spec.

Also, unless you can fabricate your high velocity system with zero leakage and non contact filter units it's not going to be DIYable without spending a lot of money.

Hospitals use these systems to stop the spread of airborne nastiness. They're tested and cleaned regularly to government issued specification. If it doesn't meet it doesn't pass.

When the system I installed was tested by camfil with a local government witness there was no tolerance for leakage for filter cartridge contact.

If you're talking a decent air scrubber, sure, DIY all day. If you're talking high spec clean room, its not that easy.

But whatever.

That is fairly simple and straightforward technology.
It is built to be used and maintained by 18yo conscripts after all.

You seem to be confused. Restoring a bunker does not require any overly technical skills. If you look at most of the tasks that bunkerfag has done they are simple home repairs but on a larger scale.

>pumping a flooded basement
>re-tiling a bathroom
>installing a generator
>working on electrical
>patching concrete
>duct work
>drilling into the foundation

Building a true clean room is a technical skill. That is why when a company or lab needs a clean room, they don't contact their usual general contractor, they contact a specialist contractor. The room for error is tiny to non-existent when dealing with clean rooms.

Now, more than likely Op wants a "clean room" to propagate mushrooms or something. He's likely not dealing with millions of dollars in micro-electronics or with infectious diseases. So does OP need a true clean room? Probably not. I'm sure a room cleaner than average would suffice. This is doable, but largely relies on Op's budget and skill set.
