I have a Nissan versa (2008?) Headlight I want to turn into a flashlight. How can I power this thing, provided this weird 3 prong connector

This seems like it'll be hard. I plan on using it for fishing and camping. Here's the back with the connections

It's a 12V incandescent light bulb, just poke some power into two of the prongs until it lights up. It's not like it's going to break.

From pictured, it seems the extra prong is for a second coil.

This is highly impractical.

>3 prong connector

WHAT IS LOW BEAM
WHAT IS HIGH BEAM

WHAT IS GROUND

and how the hell are you going to make a flashlight out of that shit? are you going to strap it to a baseball bat for a handle?

this seems stupid and a waste of a thread

>> No.854763

It has three prongs because one is ground and one is for each of the beams (high and low). If you want to power them both, your bulb will last only a few hours (trust me).
You could wire the power leads via switch to gain access to both filaments, one at a time (use a spdt relay for this to do it safely).
Use a reflector bowl.

how much did this cost?
you could have bought a fucking bulb from a car shop for like peanuts you know?
even a scrap yard man.

The list price on that headlight is over $200 but they typically sell for about $80

List it on ebay. Sell it to a Nissan owner who recently wrecked her car, and needs one.

Take that money and buy the parts you need to build a flashlight, or just buy a dozen flashlights with the money.

bring a big battery
in the US, incandescent headlights are around 60 watts and LED headlights are around 20 watts each

This!

Sell it. You'll make more than enough money to buy a damn nice Maglite flashlight.

OP, if you're gonna fuck around with /diy/ing a flashlight, you might as well go the whole 10 yards and build a short-arc xenon flashlight.
