Absolutely, it does. I'm starting to get into it myself, but I seriously lack experience and resources so I can only do small batches of...

Well, it's not hooch. It's drinkable and really tasty, but it's not quite high quality stuff either. Pic related, my latest batch of mead.

Hey man, you have to start somewhere! Actually a batch of bochet (burnt mead) is going to be one of the next couple brews I make. I've only done beer so far.

Fortunately a lot of the equipment can be got for cheap/made from parts. I've put maybe $600 into my homebrew setup and I produce some excellent beers with my rather ramshackle gear.

You're the dude with the youtube channel, aren't you?

Anyone have any guides / tips for the the beginner? I've been thinking of starting off with a batch of Joe's Ancient Mead. But seeing as it's almost winter, I might start with a batch of Beer - The mead might need to stay warmer than my Appartment will be.

Nope, just a guy who makes beer.

Mead is quite a bit easier to make than beer, from what I understand of it. Though good mead will be significantly longer until it's ready to drink. Takes longer to ferment, longer to clear, and ideally should be aged minimum several months.

Also, homebrewtalk.com has numerous guides for beer and mead making, right down to the most basic of setups. Hell, mead can be done with a 2L bottle, a pot, and balloon.
