It's even legal.

& DTI/Ofcom whoever tf in Bongoland, etc. - whats your point here exactly, caller?

Its pirate, its illegal, buy a transmitter, pick a frequency (unused is alyways good) and high vantage point to setup - move around often, or get a portable setup - get caught, get fined, dont, give up, go legal, buy a big house, found a Media Empire, takeover Clearchannel and Murdoch, etc.

>> No.812216

>>812207
Unlicensed broadcasting on the FM and AM radio bands at significant power is illegal pretty much everywhere. Laws for very low power stations vary.
Besides, if it was legal in OP's country, his station wouldn't be a pirate station.

- shame you'd need to disguise yourself as a sheep to get into the place. Prob pretty nice country, by all accounts - but their door policy always reminds of the latest trenidest club on the block - PiA to get in, and when you (finally..) do, the drinks are overpriced, and the only available females have wool between the ears.

>tldr - its probably non-illegal there, because theres no one to hear it for about 200 miles in any direction anyway.

>>812244
yo.. bear in mind, thats like 0.5W tho, be lucky to make it to the end the block, just saying - would work to try it out, in favor of it, your unlikely to get busted with it (that power level may even be legal, AUS, dunno..), but, you gonna get frustrated with the lack of range quick. We used to use a 50W from the top of a hill, with a good arial - that setup was good for miles.

nowadays, you can seperate/remote mount the transmitter, broadcast to that via internet or whatever, only thing that can get busted then is the transmitter site itself - see:

http://freemedia.blogspot.de/2012/09/how-to-set-up-pirate-radio-station-in.html
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/KBFR_%28pirate_radio%29

(both KBFR) - etc. for setup info/ideas.

dude in ebay got the model you looking at ready-mounted in a waterproof box:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Radio-Transmitter-CZH-CZH-05B-/151678011045

- throw in a Pi as streambox, done - as said, transmitter power is way too low but.

Wanna step it up a gear? anything 10-70W should cover a good area - good transmitter cost you maybe 10 times as much tho.

- remember, keep moving it around (or keep everything 12V/mobile) if you start with bigger transmitters - otherwise, you will get busted, eventually, srsly.

>Brisneyland
There was some dude up there with a facebook page but the acma took an interest and everyone vaporised. If you get on make sure you are on a clear frequency. Some dick got busted a wile back for transmitting with an overlapping sideband over a commercial station.

>> No.812773

Look into an ametour radio licence. In general you are not allowed to broadcast to anyone and everyone (other than CQ calls) but if you are not anoying anyone then nothing will happen.

Also in a lot of places with a full licence you can transmit at pretty decent power

Study amateur radio for the tech, then build your own pirate radio equipment.

No one will care. That hobby was obsolete when I was young, and that was a very long time ago. You could skip the actual electronics and speak into a dead microphone if you want to save money.

DJs are being wiped out by technology even in legal radio. Nobody listens to radio any more unless they are extremely old and cannot into Compact Discs.

Still don't understand the point. With pirate radio, you'll be geographically limited to 1% of your potential Internet audience. And you'll have no feedback to know how many listeners you really have; you might get fined for broadcasting to two listeners, which would be really pathetic.
