I work for ABB so I only dabble in our own products. We have competence in all the major players just in case the customer specifically asks for Siemens or what not.

I've never done ladder because of software dev background. Imho, ladder is complete and utter shit in the year of our lord (only oldfag electrical engineers use it here). Structured text and CFC is where it's at for me. And since everything cross-compiles into C anyway I found a way to do most all just programming C and integrating it into applications using ST as a wrapper much like one would use C to glue assembler together.

And yes, it is fucking dumb. I just quit because doing PLC work is... I'm not feeling it really. A child can do it.

Not in any meaningful sense. It's probably fast enough to regulate well if you feed it a 10 Hz sine wave going from 0-15 V (as in, no negative swing), but that's about it.

No, but from an analogue TV transmitter power amplifier. 500-ish MHz stuff dated 1980. Needless to say, these huge heatsink modules are much more useful for high-power stuff like this, than their original intended purpose.

Nothing much. Just a simple chain replacement for a couple grow lights for salad greens. It is made from 14 gauge galvanized steel wire (fencing wire). I used a very long 3/8" drill bit to wrap the coil around, bolt-cutter like pliers to snip off the rings, and two pliers to open and close the rings to make the chain. It is the same setup as making maille, only I'd use a cutting disc for the rings then weld them with a ring welder.

Though these are not welded, they do work very well since the weight of the 4' long, 2-bulb, shop lights isn't much at all.

if you lack the coordination to use fine wire, get a cheap pot of 3$ solder paste then smear the leads with it. then just apply the soldering iron to each leg.

Put new brake pads in my car and attempted to go rallying down a few dirt roads since it's rainy and everyone else is working. Ended up in a muddy ditch 30 mins in.
I've decided to not begin anything that isn't necessary until I've completed what I've got sitting on the infinite development shelves.
I will begin working on the board and code to to drive an LED sign I acquired sometime last year before I head to work. Will probably have something working by saturday/sunday.

here's another one in progress. i'll up the simple schematic after this.

purple/blue/green wires tap into vcc, luma out and chroma out from the video encoder chip. into my lil amp (in heatshrink) then luma/chroma out (left blue/green wire)
yellow/orange/red are composite video, left and right audio tapped from the vias under the av jack

it's a super easy mod, couple resistors, an elec cap and a 2n3904 transistor

looks great

>> No.802544

Why dont u use a ZVS circuit? Cheap an Powerful. No nothing will happen the only thing which you should consider is that the output potential never should be higher than the input potential. Just for safety solder a 1N4007 from input to output with the cathode facing the input. ANd always use 100nf caps on the input and outout.

I found out by looking at the schematic that between the output and ground there are a bunch of unactivated transistors and several resistors, the equivalent resistance must be around 3kOhm, 4mA are not much to worry about, if I had some space left I would add a diode though.
