How are these screens called and how can i make my own?, also, why arent they one single big square instead of several little squares?

>> No.713366

>>713365
it is very difficult and expensive to produce very large lcd screens without defects

>> No.713374

>>713366
however its not a screen it seems to be a proyector or several proyectors behind the screens

>> No.713377

>>713365
You? You don't. Instead you build a fake screen with a white backdrop cloth for projectors then aim an LCD projector at it. You can apply lines to the backdrop to make it look like multiple screens or do that digitally as an overlay.

>> No.713380

>>713377
so the main factor is the distance then? they use several proyectors for each little square?, isnt it cheaper to buy a god damn huge lcd screen than buying 16 proyectors?

>> No.713382

>>713380

good luck finding a 7ft x 12ft lcd screen

>> No.713384

>>713365
this is not projectors, with projectors you can get rid of the black bars in several ways.
either that or whoever set this up wanted it to look like shit

>> No.713386

>>713380
yes. each square you see had probably about 4 projectors each. if a fat person were to walk to close to the rig you'd have to recalibrate all 64 of them

>> No.713387

>>713380
What the hell are you smoking? I didn't say anything at all about 16 projectors.

You use ONE projector to project the entire image across the entire screen THEN use a magic marker to divide the screen up into smaller squares to FAKE it being multiple screens. OR do the lines digitally.

>> No.713430

>>713387
why the fuck would someone want to fake it like multiple screens? the fuck...

>> No.713484

It's literally just 16 aprox 32'' 720p LED tvs all plugged into one computer. Lots of extendable wall mounts.

I know this because we work on them at the Arena I work for.

Can I just put t thin black tape in a grid over my 64" LCD to get this effect?

>> No.713912

If you lurk alot on ebay, you see how inexpensive LCD panels from notebooks are.
CCFL backlit pnels from notebooks and AIO have tiny frame, allowing to build a nice display wall.

>> No.714030

The bigger question is, "Why would someone want to put a bunch of screens together like that when they can just use one LCD projector and have any size screen they want without all the expense and mess of putting shit together.

I worked at an ad agency specializing in these things. I was just the graphic designer, so I didn't get too involved in the technical setup, but we generally had a special PC attached to the back and some fancy multi-head splitter. We also had some business deals with suppliers like NEC. This shit is not cheap mind you.

Here's a bundle for around $90K

>> No.714337

you could get 3 graphics cards and 9 TVs for a lot less than that

>> No.714344

>>714337
Not the ad agency worker, but I read about those composite screens. They are expensive because there is almost no rim protecting one fragile screen from the next one. Those things are flimsy as fuck.

>How are these screens called
Are you French? The correct phrasing is "What are these screens called".

>> No.714365

>>714350
There are a lot of other languages that would phrase it that way, and it doesn't confuse the meaning at all.

>> No.714373

>>714365
Yeah, I think I've heard a Russian guy use 'how' the same way, though I think he could've just been acting. One of the best TA's I had was French and he'd use 'how' in place of 'what' for some questions, which is why I asked.

And yeah, like you say, even though it sounds strange to native speakers, it's still a coherent sentence.

>> No.714376

>>714373
Actually, I thought about it some more, and it's not correct semantically, even though it is syntactically.

>> No.714380

hey anon its a video wall
some industrial monitors/tv's can cascade their own image to produce this, also you can create it with some shitty software or video cards

>> No.714436

>>714365
>it doesn't confuse the meaning at all
it changes the meaning from "what are these screens called" to "what are these screens called, oh and btw I'm a huge fucking faggot"

finally i wanted to know this from the very beginning, thanks

>> No.715983

you just need a screen matrixer
this would be a 4x4 matrix. it just upscales and distributes the signal of one monitor to 16 monitors. enjoy blocky TV with crappy borders

>>714165
it only costs so much because it's sold as an architectural feature. you could install one yourself on the cheap but because its a specialty item sold to commercial market the price jumps by an order of magnitude.

that's how much it costs to run the pumps and auto feeder equipment and have someone nearly full time constantly replacing plants when they die.
