I gave a co-worker a piece of wood that im making into a cutting board so he could bevel the edges. He did and then also brought me a slab of oak asking if it would be better. I told him you cant use oak for cutting boards but he let me keep the slab anyway.

What should I do with it?

it's a piece of oak, there are a million things you can do with it, but nobody can teach you how to think what is best for you

why cant you use oak for chopping boards?

could make a little side board table out of it i guess, using that piece as the table top

ummm, you could make a small box

idk, what is it that you would like to make?

Oak is very open grain and is more prone to cutting marks, not to mention it doesn't do a good job of keep moisture out

You can certainly make an end grain cutting board out of oak. More work, but end grain cutting boards are really the only ones worth a damn anyway

nah bro. tourists dont know shit. here people buy standard boards from a hardware shop, sand down the edges and round them off with a router and sell them for 200$ a pop to ignorant rich cruise ship americans. they also buy the 800$ kathmandu jackets which are just cheap shitty spray jackets stuffed with goose down.
