Does this honestly work in ausland?

I know in USA we accept dollars that are 75% there, but we don't accept weird cut-up mishmashed ones, at least where I work

this is the dumbest fucking idea ever. do you really expect to walk into a bank and hand them five hundred notes that have been obviously cut and pieced together on purpose, and have them just be like "OH HERP DEE DOO HERE'S YOUR NEW CASH"?

even if you can find some legal loophole that allows you to do this, expect to spend a long-ass time in court trying to find it and a shit-ton of $$$ on lawyers trying to prove it

>> No.53506

>>53498
You should be able to take the cut up USDs into your bank and get them exchanged for normal bills.

Although they might get rather suspicious when you bring in 4 bills worth of strips.

you would probably get put under a lot of suspicion for giving them a bill cut into five perfect pieces and then taped back together, and you would probably get the police called on you for giving them more than one. the amount of different banks you would have to go to for this to work would involve such a ridiculous amount of moving around that you would probably lose a shitload of money in gas/food/bus fare/etc.

protip: bank employees are not cool with fraud, and when you are obviously trying to commit it they will not sit back, say "WELL TECHNICALLY", and aid you in your crime

http://www.rba.gov.au/banknotes/damaged/policy.html

>When damage to a banknote is such that a piece of the banknote is missing, i.e. the banknote is incomplete, the RBA needs to take into account the possibility that both pieces may be presented for value separately. It is clearly not sustainable to exchange each of the pieces for full face value. If two people have two pieces of the same banknote, the RBA’s policy is that the most equitable outcome is for each person to receive a share of the value equal to the proportion of the banknote they hold. The combined value paid should be the face value of the original banknote. Importantly, the presence or absence of specific features such as the serial number(s) is not a factor when determining value.

>The RBA adopts the following policy for determining the value of damaged banknotes where pieces are missing:
>If less than 20 per cent is missing:
>The banknote is regarded as unfit and full face value is paid.

While it would be slightly more complex to do than that image suggests, it seems that it is quite possible to take advantage of the Aussies.

Pay for something at the supermarket at the self service check outs with one of the notes. Collect the change. You'll be a few dollars down on each note but in the end you'll have made an extra $95

So does this actually work on newer machines?
Seems a little outdated, and all the machines at my college are the newer types that have the option for you to use credit cards.

This hasn't ever worked on all machines. I doubt it works much at all on newer machines. There are other tricks that work much more reliably than this one as well.

the interesting thing about these things is the legal grey area that using them falls into. Of course manufacturing and distributing (posting) them will get you caught and imprisoned, but actually using them is somewhat murkier. Since using them they have to bust you using them, prove that you were aware that you knew they were fake and still intended to use it regardless. Plus most stores either don't have the authority to arrest you if you attempt to leave or sonce your past the door.
Still don't use them, really not worth the gains
