Apparently, no one has ever made their SO anything.

you could make ur own stuffed animal. they're pretty inexpensive to make, just look online for what you would want to make, go to michaels or some other crafty store and buy fabric and a filler for the inside of the pillow. my sister makes these all the time and u can even make a simple pillow with a picture on it(of say you and gf). usually comes out nice plus girls can never get enough of pillows. for some reason.

I wonder if anyone else noticed the mathematical slip-up OP's image makes.

It really sort of depends on what they are into. If you have the time and you know them well it's pretty much a piece of cake to make something sweet for cheap. Here are some random ideas:

Wallet/purse/pack, knit scarf, knit socks, file something out of steel like a bottle opener/spoke wrench, stuffed animal sewn or knit, jewelry of any flavor, papercraft (/po/), a small, clean and precise wooden box, a mobile of found things or paper, or a hand-made book or journal.

I think the wooden box is a good one, if you have the time and are good at that sort of thing. It's kind of sentimental automatically and everyone needs a little wooden box.

I'll probably make a tutorial on how to make a leather mask. I've made one in the past. I just gotta get to making it soon... I'll make a thread as soon as I'm finished.

I cook for my SO when I am poor.

Nothing like a tin warm of chocolate chip cookies or brownies wrapped in a bow.
Chicks also love them some chocolate usually.
