I used a semi gloss varnish on his desk.

it was weird varnishing it though. idk if it was just because i was using a different brand of varnish or that it was semi-gloss, but it did not want to go on correctly. didn't spread very well, seemed to thick to me, and had issues with it wrinkling up.

Very nice work.

brilliant work

With your varnishing issues, the crinkling effect is usually because the previous layer hasn't dried properly, or the varnish has already began to cure/dry out.

Good work. Looks like a good use of time.

The desk looks like from post-communism states.

Very nice! Personally, I'm not a fan of the stain color, but your dad did a damn fine job. I'm in the market for a new desk after I lost my old cheapy one in a move, so I might give your dad's design a go. I appreciate the CAD plans and the detailed pics.

Yea, I probably should have waited longer than a day between coats, but I'm also on a schedule because I go off to college the 1st and needed to finish by then. in the future though I think I'll just spend more time on it.

>>514919
Yea the stain was my friends choice, I like the mahogany color of my desk. But, it's not my desk so it's whatever he wanted. lol also the cad plan's aren't 100% exact because we made some minor changes + i was guessing for most of the measurements.

Also apparently my family is going to start doing this like as a business after they retire and I finish school. should be interesting.

That is spectacular. I wonder how much would that would normally sell for.

they were saying probably around like $500-600 for what we made him. but since we are just like prototyping stuff we just made him pay for materials.
