Anyone have any good /diy/ costume ideas?

Costumes that are popular in pop-culture, video games, movies, etc...

They should look really legit and not involve complex stuff like composite layups etc.

Bonus points for low cost.
Bonus points for costumes that dont represent specific characters (unless it has a mask) so that authenticity can be maintained.

Example, Fallout raider armor. Shoulder armor can be made from an old tire, and welding masks can be bought for like 15 bucks.

Go old-school Cyberman, from Doctor Who. Apparently the original costumes where made from deconstructed vacuum cleaners, so there's no way total authenticity would be an issue.

Second from the left's head gear would be easy enough. Just leather and some welding googles.

Go to /cgl/, they're sort of the diy for wearable things.
