Fixing up a house the 50s, do they still make vent covers like these? Some of the ones left in the house are in pretty bad shape.

I think you should fix the one that you have op. It really doesn't look that bad. Remove rust, then paint. Use some epoxy or something if there are holes.

OP.. Try pressure washing it and then if affordable/doable have it blasted (or remove paint/rust) and repaint. Should be fairly cheap?

its not that the ones i have are in bad shape, its that they are either missing the vent flap or just gone altogether.

I was wondering if they still made ones like this to replace the missing/broken one in the house.

Oddly enough, the registers are all on the walls away from windows (instead of on the floor under windows like modern installations). Must've been before they realized windows are bad thermal insulators and must be conditioned.

What the finish on that register/vent?

Here's a brass one but I believe they come in white as well. Check the sizes and see if yours is a match.
