Well, /diy/ It's not finished but it's usable.
fourchandiy.com

I have hosted:
- Wordpress archive with sortable content in categories and tag clouds.
- Contact form for feedback.
- Wiki (foswiki) hosted on server.
- IRC server hosted on same server, user can create channels. I have chosen channel #DIY port 6667.
- Index of FTP for file hosting (just have to work on a system of secure anonymous upload)

Please tell me what you think, and PLEASE let me know if there's something you want to see. I did this for you. There is no advertising, I'm not a fucking whore. This is OUR space for US.

Thanks.

Holy fuck, thanks for that. Bookmarked.
I think the header is a bit too loaded. Maybe turn down the opacity or at least give the text a border.

It was featured on issue ~250 - ~254 (can't remember) of mother earth news.

The article is basically an exerpt of a british book written around 1930 (I think) about how to manage a homestead on 1 acre. Most reports I have heard are that 2 acres are needed.
Only thing I'd do differently than this guy, is raise Alpacas. I hear they're a lot lighter on grass.

here's the article if you want to read it:

hello, my nick is Elmo Roy D, the guy with the sticky site.
https://sites.google.com/site/diyelmo/

Your site look amazing, well made, and stuff and shit. it lacks of content right now, but if you keep working on it, it will look great. If there is anyway you can incorporate my site, or just the little info we have it will be great.

I think we may have a new sticky as soon as it has the basic information of /diy/

(also i hate you because many times i asked for help and almost no one did, and now you came here with your good skills, and good interface and shit.. i... i .. i lov eyou.)

You should make a rounded rectangle on the site banner where the quotes go, fill it with black and set transparency to about 30-40%, so the quote in white is easy to read. Same goes for the menu links if you don't know how to edit the code of the WP theme.

Make the wiki registration require a little less data, it's kind of nonsensical to ask people for their actual name for a wiki that's basically for 4chan, even though it's easy to just enter a fake, there's no point requiring it. A nickname, email and pass should suffice.
Would be nice if people who post about things always updated the wiki with their stuff as well, we could have a big knowledgebase in no time. Hell I'll probably post about the arduino stuff I'm doing, some of the RC controller interfacing isn't all that well documented anyway.

I'm back at last!

Set the div id to something ('quotebox' for instance). Then in your CSS add the following code. On most themes this is the 'custom.css' file in the theme directory. If that doesn't exist just add it to the end of styles.css which should be in the same directory.

#quotebox {
border-radius:15px;
-webkit-border-radius:15px;
-moz-border-radius:15px;
background:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.8);
}

You can change the border radius to something smaller or larger if you wish. This won't look great on old browsers but fuck old browsers.

Alright, but what jobs do you reckon you can do while living off-grid that would give you enough income to pay for rent/taxes and bills for internet, maintenance AND allow you to save some, as you do need securities of your own.
