Well then, I'm intrested in this so:

If you would be given a large hall to work in, proper tools and an access to a very large scrapyard filled with all sorts of materials from all sorts of things, what would you build?

The only but is that you would have to do everything alone, no other people helping you with anything.

And by equipment I mean all sorts of "normal" industrial machines, welding machines, metalworking things, huge lifts and whatnot, woodworking machines and so on, no special industrial superlasers or a factory of you own.

I myself would build a small semi-submersible boat/submarine, something that can hold a maximum of 4 people and can sail in large/medium rivers

i would build something that would make me money, though i have no clue what that would be..

I would (attempt to) build an Iron man suit. It doesn't matter if I can't fit in, it would just be cool to have standing around.

>> No.354693

Fuck knows. but it'd be goddamn lethal, go goddamn fast and probably be made illegal the second i finished welding the "U" on the "FUCK YOU"

Some sort of vehicle, maybe a trike. Or one of those big wheels you sit inside.

With FLAMETHROWERS

I am a Zombie fanatic So first I would build a small bunker and bury it in the yard. Next, my Ford Ranger would look like it belongs in a Twisted Metal game rather than real life. After that I would make various things to help me live off the grid (rain water collector, small green house, ect.) Zombies dont have to be real for me to have fun lol ... I take that back. Ive wanted to make my own Kukri out of a truck's leaf spring for awhile now

Have you seen this thing yet? Its from the American Chopper Biker Build Off 2011. Its electric, steers like a tank (back wheel swivels), and you lay down to steer it

I was installing home and industrial burglar alarms some years ago in reno and had a install about 60 miles or so south of reno, the guy was paying big so we had no problem. When we got there we saw this in the guys driveway and had to get the low down on this crazy contraption.

Its a single seat deep cycle battery operated home made submersible, the front and back portions are hollow from under neath and boyancy was had by opening valves on compressed gas tanks inside the fuselage that filled these inverted pockets; more in the front made it nose up to ascend (maybe) and vice-versa to descend. you can see the dual trolling motors caged in on either side for propulsion. If I remember the main hull is a highly modified/fortified 50+gallon CNG style tank and he said he often took it to lake Tahoe where he used it often, I being 6'3" and 200 Lbs (quite narrow in the hips) had trouble getting in it, but it was amazing inside, simple yet fully capable.

The whole zombie apocalypse hipster bullshit thing make me sad. You might not be a hipster, fair enough, but you brought it up.

I'm thinking about the people who learn archery ironically to shoot zombies, buy a wind up radio, that sort of thing.

Why can't they worry about things that might actually happen? Learn skills that might actually come in useful? I suppose those things just aren't fun. We need ironic hipster garbage to care about anything. A terminal symptom of a broken generation.

That thing is wonderful, and it has a very intelligent design- no moving parts like rudders, only the motors, which are sealed from the interior. Post more if you find it.

>>355762

Get a dictionary. None of those things are done in an ironic manner, and they're certainly not hipster.

Fuck yes, son. I don't want other people getting in my way. Once the shop is set up, I'd probably start by building a utility trailer to pull behind my Jeep. After that, I'd probably start making mods for the Jeep itself; new rocker guards, maybe some bull bars, winch plate, roof rack and so on. After that, I dunno. Maybe I'd start making stuff and selling it for profit.

If I were that guy, I'd buy one of these (pic related) put loads of windows along the side, weigh it down so it'll stay underwater, and it'd have a hole in the floor at the far end large enough for the conning tower on that little submarine to poke up through.

That way your little sub has an underwater base it can dock to. Just stick an air compressor in a shed on land by whatever lake you plop it in, and run an air line down to it, to refresh the air inside.

>weigh it down

lol, easily said... water weighs 8 lbs/gallon. that's how much weigt you'll need to sink that. "windows" lol.

Remember, you're building a pressure vessel.

Water pressure is approximately 14.7 psi per atmosphere. 1 atmosphere is about 33 ft of water. Meaning, at 147 ft, your vessel is under 147 psi of pressure.

> lead is dense
and expensive.
truck tankers approx 8500 gallons.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tank_truck

water is 8.3 lbs/gal. that's 70,550 lbs.

the 'market' price of lead is about $1.03, probably twice that retail (www.imsmetals.com, but i'm not shopping)

that's $70K, not including reality.

so much for cheap hacks.

You're inferring that people who learn archery or buy wind up radios to keep in contact with their friends during a zombie apocalypse are doing so with the literal intent of surviving a zombie apocalypse? You must be murrikan.

Anyway, I'd build a traction engine for shits and giggles. Can't beat a bit of steam power.

I would build an amphibious Camper van sort of like a hybrid between Jurrasic park two and the wild thornberries.

It would have a set of sails and everything needed for exstended sea/land travels

Okay, Im going to be civil here and explain why I like Zombies. I know they are mythical a creature. There is just as much chance of me finding a mermaid as fighting a zombie. It will never happen.

Prepping for Zombies is a hobby. Hobbies are good for people. Pretending an oncoming attack of Zombies is possible keeps me from rotting in front of a TV screen. Its also a good conversation piece among friends, keeps me inventive in my ideas, and keeps me active physically.

If a person learns archery, for any reason, Isnt that better than sitting at home and wasting your live in front of a television?

So what if peoples' preparations are "for" the Zombie Apocalypse, "for" the imminent collapse of the government or what whatever other unlikely fantasy they can imagine? Being prepared is a good thing.

My big fear is a winter ice storm. I keep a stocked of canned food so I don't have to drive if our roads ice over. I keep fresh batteries in my flashlights, in case an ice storm brings down the power lines. I keep fuel for my camping stove for the same reason. I keep a few gallons of water in case the water mains freeze and burst.
