/diy/ clothing? I'm from /fa/ which sucks for this stuff and what I've seen on /cgl/ is not too practical for the everyday.
I'm talking patterns for shirts, pants, knitting instructions, whatever. Surely I'm not the only one tired of overpaying for shit cotton/polys when a bolt of good fabric and thread can be had for multitudes cheaper?

I was a cordwainer's apprentice for 2 years so I know a good bit about handmaking shoes, if these thread type catches on I will compile more info about that

/fa/mily here my stuff is messy but I have a few suiting construction guides. Looking about 50's - 60's trouser patterns, I can never get the ass curve seams right they always turn out floppy or flat.

Well this thread's about done so here's a little something from a long guide on suitmaking I'll try to post tomorrow.

If anybody is interested in getting started with patterns and stuff, besides the tons of guides online craft stores like Michael's and Joanne's are great.
They often have classes and group tutorials on knitting beanies or something and often have sewing circles which very helpful, lots of older women go to these who have useful contacts for sourcing nice fabrics and material cheap.

Also if you need hands on experience in toying with your skillset buy cheap stuff from Goodwill and those pieces as templates. A bit of donated clothing there is generations old and can be deconstructed to create very useful templates and construction methods.

Unfortunately, I have VERY little experience with sewing, but I am learning. Some of my first creations were denim pipe bags with polyester lining. I am proud to say that I made it on a shitty portable dress hemmer, but now I have a nice Kenmore (Nothing fancy) that my grandmother gave me. I plan on making some things like a fur lined cloak, and maybe some shirts or something, I will see how I do on a real sewing machine.
