I need some nice stylish looking electrical switches for a case mod I am doing
Any suggestions?
Ideally the switches will be very small, and have some awesome minimalist style to them. preferably lit, but I am sick of nondescript swiches and want something that just adds to the look by being very understated and almost like you would miss them unless you knew they were there

picture related these are boring

i've always thought these were cool and have been wanting to incorporate them into a project, but unfortunately i've only ever needed open momentary switches:

or maybe one of those overtly decorated red buttons that launch nukes

do you have a theme for your case mod? or just looking for anything that might tickle your fancy?

or a little more unique:

Toggles are nice. I know they're kind of retro, but they're small and unobtrusive, and if you could find them in a satin steel finish I think they'd look great as part of a minimalist case.

As for where you'd get them or what they're technically called, I can't help you there.

>do you have a theme for your case mod?

kind of - I have been looking at minimalist architecture and interior design like this and I want to redesign my HAF X so it wouldnt look out of place in a room like that
so I want the swiches to have a purpose but also remain almost hidden within the style of the case. I am thinking of some kind of switch within a dome shaped plastic cup etc
It's so difficult to find exactly the right thing as switches tend to be rather ugly IMHO

Not sure if it's really a great starting point for something really minimal, but here you go http://www.performance-pcs.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=60_374 - I like the Phobya rocker switches

If you decide to swap cases Silverstone have some really sleek / plain looking stuff

Thanks for the link

yeah I want to tone the look of it down but I am still at the planning and experimentation stages so far.
Mainly I want to redesign the top and front panel
everything else is ok
However I am planning to replace the clear window with a white acrylic sheet which is segmented and inlaid with a clear acrylic so the window is turned into a light when the panel is sidelit and yet allows people to see into the case too

try these:

I don't think you could ever go wrong with one of these toggle switches. Just gives an amazing tactile feel when you flick one especially if it is panel mounted to something sturdy/heavy.

why not two key switches one on each side of the button and a big red button with plastic lift cover

I love the dashboards of old European cars. Solid wood plank, neat little switches that spring between positions. Wish I was better at woodworking

I bought a couple of those simply to click them every now and then.
I don't even know what I could use it for.
