Any ideas how to build a spycam to watch your sister/mother?

Or on spy techniques in general?

Webcam, usb wire through wall into your bedroom.

>> No.280147 [DELETED]

I hope you're only doing this to monitor your bedroom, OP. Besides creepiness, monitoring people in their own home isn't a smart idea. They WILL find it, and you will be screwed.

will need

1a USB wecam (preferably small, but HD)
2 ALOT of usb cables & extenders.
3electrical tape
>take webcam out of its casing & wrap in electrical tape to make it even more compact.
>connect your USB cables together, the longer the better. TAPE THEM TOGETHER WITH ET JUST TO MAKE SURE THEY STAY CONNECTED

for the following steps make sure you have atleast 1 hour of CONFIRMED alone time in your house

>go into your attic

> route your connected USB cables to your room, out a power out or whatever other outs you have in your walls. (preferably one next to your computer)

>find your targets room air duck. if you can open the air duck with tools, do it. if not youll have to make a hole,so your camera can fit

>go into your targets room & position your camera so it can see through the vents

make sure its pointing in a direction where your likelyhood of scoring is improved ( infront of a mirror, closet, dresser, etc)

Truly a masterwork of design and engineering.

CAT-5 can be used to extend usb. Cut the cord and splice it in, keep track of colors good for forty yards or so.

A bit off topic, but there's a usb extender you can buy relatively cheap that plugs into a cat5 cable and will extend the range 150'.

If you're a sophisticated creeper you can have two tiny servos to control pitch and yaw.

This is false. USB can't handle a long cable. It won't be able to communicate because the commands will take too long to respond.
>>280588
This is true.

You can also buy un-powered usb extensions/repeater, they take power off the line and use it to propogate the signal to the next 'hub'.

>USB 2.0 provides for a maximum cable length of 5 meters for devices running at Hi Speed (480 Mbit/s). The primary reason for this limit is the maximum allowed round-trip delay of about 1.5 μs. If USB host commands are unanswered by the USB device within the allowed time, the host considers the command lost. When adding USB device response time, delays from the maximum number of hubs added to the delays from connecting cables, the maximum acceptable delay per cable amounts to 26 ns.[38] The USB 2.0 specification requires cable delay to be less than 5.2 ns per meter (192,000 km/s, which is close to the maximum achievable transmission speed for standard copper wire).

Actually, USB to Cat5 to USB does work, as surprising as that seems. You have to buy special adapters for it though. And it isn't good for things that need very high bandwith.

If she uses a webcam thats in a good spot. Then you can just install a remote webcam program on it. Without having to drill and fuckup your wall.

just buy a camera pen.

there's no way you're going to get away with drilling holes in the walls and installing cables and all that shit.

Boss post!

So I think you're a creeper for wanting to spy on your mom and sister. That's just some fucked up shit, but boss poster (previously mentioned above) put me in a position to want to share info.
I use USB cameras for all of my security systems.
Currently, because I got them for $13 a unit when I bought the case, I use TRENDnet 4-Port Network USB Hubs. These allow me to run 4 USB cameras within 16 feet of the USB box. connect to that box with cat5 for a maximum single run distribution length of 280 feet to the USB box.

For software, being that I have to be compatible with the customers desires I have 2 primary packages that cover almost everyone freely, I don't intend to discus paid or proprietary software.

Windows: iSpy
Linux: Zoneminder

iSpy is easy to setup because it's designed with the average windows user in mind, that ease comes at the cost of features. The interface is simple, in general it can be set up and running in under 10 minutes.

Zoneminder takes a bit more effort to setup, the video can be exported extremely easily meaning you can have hundreds or even thousands of cameras being monitored from anywhere the internet goes. Tons of features, in fact more then I want to go over, and you can usually find someone who can script you up a custom front end for pennies, or just use the one that comes with it.

Snake cam is all I can think of short of being completely obvious about it. I suppose you could hide a wireless camera in a bookshelf, but good luck.

Trying to bug a room is harder than you think.
