Hey /diy/.
So, I've been thinking, why don't we just use satellites or regular television dishes such as Direct TV or try to erect our own radio masts as an alternative form of Internet?

Also, can somebody give me that file that explained an attempt at an alternative Internet? As I remember, it had something to do with routers.

I'd like to expand the latter and have it overlap the former to deal its transoceanic problem.

I know that I'm still on the front page, but it doesn't feel right asking for so much and giving so little.
For now, I'll go start dumping these.
Realize that these are the expanded versions. I'll start posting actual content and links to the rar's next post.

Converted satellite dishes would be extremely effective for distance communication. Shouldn't be too hard to get them, there are lots of abandoned them after quitting/moving.

But I don't know how to go about rigging them up.
I was hoping you guys would know.

Google, "wokfi" and you essentially use old sat dishes instead of various parabola cookware utensils. A wokfi is a type of parabola wifi antenna. So, if you don't have 70 sat dishes like >>238379 does, you can make your own for very cheap.

Other terms,

ad hoc network
intranet

Thank you guys, I'll be right on those.
I'm still looking for the one with routers, though.

You would attach the coax cable for the dish into the antenna jack of the router. Works anything with a detachable antenna.
Alternatively you can go poorfag and just attach the router at the same spot. It won't be nearly as effective as the shaped antenna but it can probably be done with duct tape. Not weather-appropriate though.

Congratulations, you're only about the 1,000,000th dude on 4chan to have this idea over the last 9001 years.
