I might start something called "OurTruck". For now, I'll buy a truck dedicated to 'others'. The idea is around a small fee you get to use my truck fuel included. My app covers insurance as you drive it. I buy used diesel dually OX truck people can't break it. Let them us it. What do you think /diy/?

>> No.1738905

Honestly that sounds like a good way to end up with a broken truck.

Also just so you know if you live in California then they are making older diesels trucks illegal so they can't register them anymore due to emissions That's probably why that one is so cheap.

I swear to god if they ever try that shit around here I'll start shooting people.

Buy a $500 beater, learn to drive a stick and then sell it.

As someone that will only buy a manual, these are getting to be a rare breed. The reliability of automatics has improved so they no longer seem to explode after 100k. Coupled with the decreasing number of people that know how to drive stick and it explains why you see so few manual transmission cars on the used market these days. Even with "small trucks" (F-350 size and smaller), which I have been looking for, most of them are automatics. There are several models of cards out there you can't even get with a stick new.

will it be competitive with other truck rental companies? whats to stop someone for cheaping out and going with the home creapo truck rental? are you trying to target actual construction companies, or johnny retard that needs to move his grandmas furniture?

There's an app for that called turo, they already do pickup trucks for pickup truck purposes, I'm sure you could register a bigger truck through them.

California.

Seriously they're banning diesel medium duty trucks at the end of the year so people there are trying to offload them quickly.

I should have said banning older diesel medium duty trucks that don't meet their new emissions regulations.

Maybe you could also buy a large truck or van and have people let you know if they need rides to or from places. You could have regular pick-up and drop off spots and you could run "routes" between them. you could call it "OurRide" or something catchy like that!

People cant break it until they drop $40 worth of gas into your diesel and burn the shit out of the clutch.
