What's your favorite work boot, I just got a pair of these, what u guys think? Very popular on the jobsite (I'm a union sparky apprentice) I see other trades with them 2

Personally I feel lucky getting more than 6 months, I work on concrete or steel grating most the time, the boots themselves never fall apart but the support wears out and my back and knees hurt, maybe I should try buying new insoles before replacing the whole boot idk, I've bought keen and wolverine both have been fine, again they don't fall apart just wear out support wise

I use regular Timberland pro in 6" or 8". Both work fine, I usually use them until the soles crack in cold weather. Redwings are garbage. They are overpriced heavy and cheaply made. I spend over $200 on a pair 6 months later leather around toe started to wear and could see the steel toe. They wouldn't replace it. I'm not defending this guy but everytime one of these boots threads comes along someone who actually wears work boots to their job daily points out Redwings aren't worth the money. Then some office dwellers who wear their Redwings twice a month accuse them of being a seething poorfag because their Redwings have lasted 3 years under their desk every other Friday. I wore nothing but Redwings from 2002 to around 2011 and I can tell you that they have gone to shit, that's why I switched. I wasn't even getting 4 months out of them before the soles were shot and the toes were blown out.

Don't even get me started on these guys that think Keen even qualifies as a work boot. The stitched sole composite toe Carolinas have been good to me, they are not comfortable when new but they break in nice. Timberlands and Georgias check out too.

Heavy duty mechanic here. I've used timberlands pro, cheap Walmart boots and must say the best results are with redwings. Working in mud and around Diesel and oils splashing as you are trying to get a caterpillar chained to get pulled by dozer. Lol. We are rough on our boots. Then back at th shop, regular mechanic stuff. I just bought a pair of these. No laces cause we sometimes weld and shit, composite toes. Time will tell on these. So far so good. Love the toe cover.

Cheaper chinese Redwings are great for a year max, but dog shit after that and need to be thrown out. you gotta spend $200+ fort good USA made ones. I use these religiously and can get 1 -2 years with no maintenance (though I really should swap insoles).

Ultra cheap rubber boots that fit over your boots. I worked around frac chemicals. No amount of quality can protect from hydrochloric acid and biocide. Burned the bottom of my feet. Ended up being cheaper buying a sub 20 dollar Rubber boot and changing them out monthly. My 140 dollar lacrosse boots lasted 6 months before they started to leak. Bottom layer of skin came off.

I wear brown leather insulated steel toe wolverines in the winter. They're waterproof but the nonslip part doesnt count for ice.

In the summer I wear a black suede pair of wolverine steel toes, I havent wore them much but theyre comfy and stylish.

I wore nothing but chelsea style boots for about a decade, loved the convenience of lace-less on and off. Then I noticed issues with my ankles and deep lesions. I switched back to laces and the issues went away. I think the side gussets allow too much play which leads to friction and to instability which are barely noticeable but over years the minute abrasions and wobbles accumulate to significant wear and tear. The gusseted boot is by design supposed to be loose fitting, and therefore inherently inferior to laces for keeping your foot locked into the boot.

I wear steel toe Timberland Pros every day working on the railroad. Walking through mud and ballast, climbing signal masts, digging, walking and climbing bridges with rough metal grating.

They're heavy and not very warm but the soles have held up. I got them on sale for $50 when the local Sears went out around Christmas 2018. Relatively comfortable too without insoles.

Best fucking boot, hands down.
>Comfy as all fuck
>Water proof
>Steel toe
>Ankle armor
>Easily taken off in water
>Shock absorbent soles
An absolute marvel. The only complaint I have, is that the soles wear down within a year of heavy use. I was walking across barges, day in, day out- while the fucking non-skid just chews up any and all soles of work boots.

when they were new I would oil every month or so and made sure to wash the mud off pretty quickly as well as dry them out if wet.
Mud sucks the natural oils out of the leather causing it to break down quickly.
After a year or so I stopped oiling as often and it became every 3 months.
At this point I know I need another set before winter really hits so I dont bother oiling anymore and just tied my shoe laces together rather than replace them again.

>lasted year and half until chemicals ate the stitching and the soles became too slick
>never able to find them again
>$200-400 boots never came close to those boots in comfort or durability

Had composite toes, goretex, vibram, moon magic, organic grassfed leather bullshit. It's all Chinese garbage now, never get more than a year outta em regardless of price. But none of them were as comfy as those shitty Walmart ones. And they all fall apart or the sole wears too much after a year.

I'm a lineman, so this is pretty specific as our boots have metal shanks in them to stiffen up the soles to make standing in your hooks more comfortable as well as a large heel to keep them in place.
I will swear up and down by Hoffmann boots, I have been wearing them for years, very comfortable, durable and good enough to live in. They are somewhat pricey, $300 and up, but they are worth it.
I know they make many different types of boots but I can only speak to their lineman boots.
Pic related what I'm wearing now.
