Hi.
I’m trying to fix a broken VCR which should be simple, as all it needs is a blown capacitor to be replaced. To replace it I obviously need to take out the circuit board so I can access the solder side. I have removed the loading mechanism and the circuit board mounting screws, but the circuit board is still held in at the back where the outputs are. I can’t just lift the board or slide it in any direction as the case is in the way. It shouldn’t be a difficult problem. Any help is appreciated if you have experience with this kind of thing. Thanks

The board is free at the front

The outputs are secure to the case, which is preventing me from lifting the board out

No more screws you can find? Anything else plastic or metal that can pop off? They might have soldered some of that stuff after the board was screwed in, I was fucking around with a DVD-receiver a few months back and ended up with an antenna input being soldered in at the end (big stakes too) and ended up hacking it off.

I got stopped by something similar to your pic on the left. A whole assembly for the FM antennae I think. May have been Coax input too. Once I got the heat sinks off, the speaker wires and AV stuff was all free, but that big silver box was staked and soldered in at the last minute I believe.

Yes, it’s that whole assembly at the back that’s stopping it. The board is trapped underneath it

It looks to me like part of that backplate comes away from the frame with the pcb attached

I reckon that it must as well. That and the case are locked around each other in pic to keep it secure so it must lift up. I can’t move the board to the side anyway. I’ll see if I can get anywhere and reply later

Just got back. Had no luck just lifting it up. I’ll have another look with this pic as reference. I really appreciate the help by the way.

Thank you very much! So simple I shouldn’t have needed to start a thread. I would’ve been stuck a while there. Now I can change the capacitor. Thanks again.
