I had dogshit credit, and got a house loan. I considered vandwelling when I believed that I would never get my own house.

I'm glad I took the plunge and actually talked to some people IRL at the local credit union.

Looking to do some building out on my own camper. Any sort of materials for starting out? I can build with wood and do some plumbing/electric but is there any special concerns with enclosed and mobile spaces like this?

If it's not bolted down, it WILL tumble about when you go around a corner. Build latching cabinets unless you want to pick all your shit up off the floor every time you stop for the night. Be aware that some building materials offgas hazardous fumes.

same as when she gets knocked up and suddenly decides she has a moral compass after all and babies are so cute.

This. Study up on how cabinetry is done on sailboats and motor vessels. Everything self locks of self seals so shit don't fly all over. Shelves and cabinets have an extra lip on the edge so stuff won't slide off. If it's not in a cabinet, it's got snaps, straps, bungees, or some other restraining device.

Solar isn't that expensive anymore. It's like 2$ a watt now. The inverter is the biggest cost.

>> No.1620742

>>1620673
your info is outdated
you can get panels for a bit over a buck a watt and a pure sign in inverter is about 130 bucks for 1000 watts

Where do you park? Is good wired internet at all plausible?

>> No.1620762

>>1620758
How would you accommodate wired ethernet? You can wire up some jacks to a switch /router+switch combo, then maybe an external jack, keeping a wound up 100+ foot cat 6 around, but you'd need to get that to someone else's switch/ap. Doesn't seem practical if you're going to be parking in random spots

Should have used a lighter material, all that wood probably added 200 or more pounds to your van. There is a reason they use a thin "we call it luan" plywood in RVs, you can get it in tons of different finishes and textures, Instead of using that 200 pounds for wood plank walls, you could have installed some extra batteries and an inverter, always think about the weight of your vehicle, no point in having a camper van if it either gets 4 mpg or even moves at all when it's done, never mind the beating the drive terrain will take,

>> No.1627693

>>1627408
Just buy stiffer shocks. Plumbers load these full of brass and soccer moms always have them full. Few hundred pounds isn't bad if you baby it. And it's your home so you should.

just bought a 94 class B coachmen, has some water damage but I can fix that, the entire outside is fiberglass so once the leaks are fixed it should be good to go. Just want to say that butyl tape and eternabond are fucking miracle materials.

also I'm shilling this dude https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCoj6RxIAQq8kmJme-5dnN0Q

he knows his shit about RV electric boondocking, even has tutorials to build your own lithium battery banks and reviews different kinds of batteries and power banks and shit, it's great.
