I recently learned that sorting insurmountable bins of fasteners generally goes much easier/faster than expected.

One big step is to sort by "sharp" and "not sharp" (nails/tacks/screws; nuts/bolts/etc.) so that you can dig through the not-sharp bin without getting stabbed.

>> No.1591624

since I am extremely organized
please accept my eye roll as you dig endlessly for the screw you need

I am pretty organized, but I also have a few boxes like this.
The reality is, I almost NEVER find a reasonable use for anything in these trash bins and should throw them away. But I feel like the second I throw them away ill need something.

I really dont like using salvage anything in my projects if I dont have to though.

that really grinds my gears. I see guys at work dropping deck screws and not even bothering to pick them up, even after I point out the fact that each one took maybe half an hour for some lathe operator to make.

Have you even ever tried threading on a manual lathe? If you take your eyes off that chasing dial for even a second you could misthread an ENTIRE screw.
