Are Festool, Milwaukee, Bosch, Dewalt and Makita finished? When you got the best woodworking tools with the best guide rail system(Mafell) and the best metalworking tools (Metabo) sharing the same battery platform what point is there buying the other crap? Bonus points for Metabo and Mafell are not made in China.

>> No.1527899

Hitachi should be joining this since it owns Metabo

Hitachi? Value oriented? From what I've seen over the last half decade their tools were always close to Makita/Bosch prices, meaning not value at all.

This. Lowe’s has Hitachi but nobody buys them.

As long as my weekend warrior ass can buy a DeWalt or Milwaukee drill and driver kit for $149 or a Ryobi 5 tool set and everything will be more than enough for my needs, why would I buy expensive German stuff made in China?

>> No.1528618

Yeah, you'd rather buy shitty American stuff made in China.

>> No.1528621

>>1528618
Pricing, availability, ease of service and parts, of course. If I was a Yuro and Metabo-Bosch were 60% the cost of DeWalt and Milwaukee, I would buy that.

>> No.1528632

Dewalt's tools are hecho en mexico and if you want there's plenty of corded made in USA suppliers (and in my experience most air powered tools are made in USA too).

Then why did you start your first post with retardation like it matters to you when the problem is in logistics and not the tools themselves? Just like you in the US don't get much Bosch stuff we in the EU don't get much Milwaukee stuff, well we do but at a nasty markup.

>> No.1528678

>>1528671
If they are sitting next to eachother in Lowe’s and Bosch wants $250 for their entry level drill and impact while the DeWalt is <$150, I’m not buying into Bosch just because I can use the batteries for a German saw that cuts 5% better than the DeWalt.

And Milwaukee’s lineup is probably still better than that German conglomerate or brands if you’re doing anything besides fine woodworking.

>> No.1528690

Milwaukee is complete garbage, it's not even cheaper and I see repair shops getting close to Makita and Bosch unit count for them while being far more unpopular, planned obsolescence at best.

I love how people in these threads want to fight without having used any of the brands they are talking shit about

How about everyone who responds from now on with opinions about brands says which tools they’ve used in the brands they’re discussing.

I’ve used Bosch saws and they out perform every other saw I’ve used including Dewalt, makita, craftsman, and porter cable

As for the thread, we use Metabo grinders every day and they really take a beating.

Just like craftsman being sold to Blowes, though, I don’t imagine their cordless stuff being the same quality. They might be at first, but unless someone here actually has used them, why are we talking?

Bosches always excel in these categories:
Ergonomics
Durability

Their only problem is that they don't have a large selection of brushless shit like their competitors, but their regular tools are more than powerful enough, like their 18V jigsaw(non brushless) is as powerful as the 18V Makita brushless one, they obviously do not last long enough on the same battery capacity, but unlike Makita Bosch does have a 8 and 12Ah pack.

>Are Festool, Milwaukee, Bosch, Dewalt and Makita finished?
Obviously not. Mafell is not even in the game in the US outside of niche markets like timberframing. They make great long lasting tools, but American carpenters can not afford them. The tracksaw concept is still relatively new and I expect to see tracks built to retrofit existing saws becoming commonplace before any large scale adoption of the new purpose built saws. Metabo is Hitachi now right? I love their pneumatics but they've been a small fry when it comes to powertools for decades. I know they're pushing new shit out, but most people have already committed to a battery and I don't think they're going to get many to switch.
>>1529751
>I’ve used Bosch saws and they out perform every other saw I’ve used including Dewalt, makita, craftsman, and porter cable
Bosch made shit saws until they bought skil and copied the mag77. The only decent craftsman saw was a rebadged skil too. Makita makes the best sidewinder and their hypoid was skil's biggest competition until they changed the game with their double battery cordless. I would say they're at the top of the heap with skil when it comes to skillsaws, dewalt makes some good tools (love their mitersaws) but their skillsaws have always been cheap trash. Porter cable has not released a half decent tool this millenium.
