hey /diy, imagine you were going to be locked in a warehouse with any parts / materials / components you wanted for the next year. if you could only bring 3 tools with you, what would you bring? what would you make? only restriction is that you can't build something that would enable you to escape.

let's see what ideas you've got!

>> No.151369

i think my 3 would have to be a multimeter, a jigsaw, and an electric drill. that gives me the ability to build things, and diagnose most electronics. (could build an oscilloscope from there if i really had to)

>> No.151395

vice grips, hacksaw, hammer

There's not a lot you can't fudge with these 3.

>> No.151397

So the warehouse is full of materials I can use to build more tools?

>> No.151400

>>151397
yeah, theoretically, as long as you know how

>> No.151414

a mig welder and a plasma cutter, and a tape measure i guess

>> No.151427

>>151414
you can do some serious construction with that. what would you build?

a fucking roller coaster dude!

Lol I like electronics man.
Plus I suppose could use it
to learn more things over the
internets.

>> No.151464

>>151438
hmm. maybe there is a condition that you have no communications with the outside? i guess you could still have a ton of stored data, though

>> No.151467

>>151464
yeah I suppose, just pop in a 32gb microsd and that should be more than enough for books, audio books, videos, music and more.

>> No.151609

Sledgehammer, Lump Hammer, Bow Saw

>> No.151629

dremel kit, soldering iron, scope

id make is a computer to order more tools.

then id build a kill bot with a big machine gun so that when im finally let out i can go on a rampage for locking me in a where house for a year, also for fun

1: 4-faced hammer (flat, claw, ball, and pointed)
2: my analog 1970s multimeter
3: 14lbs capacity ceramic crucible

After a year, I should have a space rocket ready for launch. but, realistically I'd make more tools, start making electronics (simple radio for starters then a walkie talkie/CB radio/HAM radio) then I could have contact with the outside world. I'd make a welder too.

Router
Corded drill
35' Tape

Actually scratch the drill, I'll take a metal lathe.

>> No.151704

Festool kapex
Festool drill
Kreg setup

>> No.151706

>>151700

I was wondering when someone would say that.

As for me,
1) Metal lathe
2) Vertical milling machine
3) SMAW / TIG welding setup (Just the inverter and cords if necessary)

Really after the metal lathe, it's all gravy.

As for building I would probably fashion some rough woodworking tools first and make furniture and the like before taking some time to build a few good tools and building just to get better at building.

>> No.151726

1. Trowel
2. Brick Hammer
3. 4' level

What am I?

>> No.151731

mill
lathe
bandsaw

I can pretty much make everything else with these

>> No.151737

Swiss Army Knife, decent needle-nosed pliers, and my phone, to get instructions and stuff.

Wait, is there electricity? Is there 3G coverage? Am I allowed to have my charger for my phone? What if I wanted to make something that doesn't really exist (like a warp drive)? Do the parts for THAT exist in the Warehouse?

We're talking about Warehouse 13, aren't we? You bastard.

>> No.151830

>>151737
>Warehouse 13
had to google to see what that was. sounds interesting, i may have to check it out

>electricity?
yes

>Is there 3G coverage?
no communications allowed with outside world

>Am I allowed to have my charger for my phone?
yes, and any stored data you bring in on it is fair game

>What if I wanted to make something that doesn't really exist (like a warp drive)?
anything you build must obey the laws of physics. if you manage to make a discovery in the process, then good for you

1.) Bridgeport Series 1 mill w/ digital readout
2.) South Bend 16x60 lathe w/ digital readout
3.) Lincoln Idealarc R3R-500 (for stick or TIG welding, also, carbon-arc gouging for cutting metal)

Everyone here is wrong. The only correct answer is:

ANY Forge
Hammer
Bucket of oil

I know OP stipulates all materials as desired, but we all know about OP.

A 5 Axis CNC milling machine and a computer.. That's all you need.
What would I make? ... EVERYTHING
