These are all the AR-15 parts that are currently 3d printable.
With a CNC milling machine, a block of steel/aluminum, and nothing else, which ones of the remaining parts could be manufactured?

>> No.1511008

>>1511003
No sir. That would be illegal.

>> No.1511009

I think probably just the upper receiver and the gas block.

>> No.1511010

>>1511009
What about the barrel?
Someone made the upper receiver, but it needs to be drilled by hand once.
https://www.cncguns.com/projects/ar15a3upper.html

Would it be possible to get around this step somehow?

>> No.1511017

why would you 3D print an AR??? The weight savings on polymer and aluminum are not significant. Get an 80 or just get an AK

>> No.1511025

>>1511008
Wrong. The lower receiver is the "firearm" on an AR. If you've manufactured that yourself, which is allowed, then everything else is just accessories. You still have to manufacture everything to conform (16" bbl min, OAL, no fun switch or other FA parts, etc.). You don't need a Class 6 to manufacture for your own use. BATFE doesn't care until you try to sell something you've manufactured.

>>1511021
So you can get ammo but no AR??
Give up your dreams of shooting a school with your AR-15 style plastic toy gun, parts are not even illegal. You can literally get this shipped cheap: https://www.ceratac.com

WTF kind of fucked up shit did you even do to get into this situation? You think officer friendly is gonna overlook your gun that would have exploded in your hand anyway? What do you even want it for? If you're gonna circumvent the law you don't have to be retarded.

Wrong.
The only non printable parts on an AR are the ones subjected to high stresses ie. Barrel, gas block, gas tube, barrel extension, BCG etc.

Some of them have to be made out of metal, which precludes them from being 3d printed.
But yes, barrel shrouds can be 3d printed.

>Barrel, gas block, gas tube, barrel extension, BCG etc.
How many of these can be made with a CNC machine?

>> No.1511277

>>1511010
Barrels require special drill bits to be accurately bored out of solid material. You might be able to get around that by heat-shrinking concentric layers of pipes onto each other, but that would make for an extremely shitty barrel. Or you could see if you could find high-alloy tube stock with a .22" ID and then just bore out the chamber with a regular drill.

>> No.1511279

>>1511269
Wouldn't bending forces from the barrel be exerted along the print line and tend to cause delamination on that receiver? I think it would be better to print along another axis.

>> No.1511281

>>1511274
>Some of them have to be made out of metal, which precludes them from being 3d printed.
The only parts not printable with a $150 chink pos printer out of good old ABS are the forementioned barrel, gas tube, BCG period.

>> No.1511284

>>1511279
>Wouldn't bending forces
What bending forces? We're talking about the AR here anon.
My print bed was only 150x150 at the time so i had to print it standing.
I made it extra thick though, especially in the threads, so it ought to hold.

>> No.1511285

>>1511281
Oh and springs are kinda hard to print and would require extensive modifications even if substituted with rubber bands.

>> No.1511286

>>1511277
Say you use a CNC machine to make two half barrels, with parts protruding to mechanically join then, and then weld them together on the outside.
Would it be strong enough?
>>1511281
What about springs?

>> No.1511292

>>1511286
You could make it strong enough sure but finding a way to bore it out would probably be easier by the time you're considering such odd solutions.
>What about springs?
Weelll, plastics are springy, some more than others, so yeah sure why not.

>> No.1511294

>>1511277
There is no regular drill bit that matches the chamber dimensions of 223 Rem, 5.56 NATO, or pretty much any other round, for that matter. If you use tubing for the barrel in just about any way, shape or form, you're running a 99% chance of blowing your ass off.

>> No.1511308

>>1511286
No Anon, it would most definitely NOT be strong enough. You're going to get someone maimed/killed if this keeps going. There are cheap AR barrels available to buy. A cheap throwaway from nearly any high-power shooter would be safer and more accurate than what you guys are talking about.
