I have an APC XS 1000 and its batteries dried up and died awhile ago. Being the good diy/er I tried recharging them with salts etc before recycling them. I was sure I left the wiring/bridge thing inside the UPC for when I finally got around to replacing the batteries. Here we are years later and I bought some replacements and open the lid to find... nothing. I have one more pile of stuff to check tomorrow but assuming I cant find this vital piece to get these things wired up in series, can anyone speculate on the wiring guage I'd need to rig this up?

Attached pic is representative of what I need but I think its for a different model. My model is an XS 1000. I have solder/spade connectors and a decent selection of wiring at work, though it might not be the heavier gauge needed. What would diy recommend?

all you need is wiring gauge? just use 4 gauge and call it a day... surely 1 ft or 4 or 8 isn't gonna kill you

1ft of 4 or 8 *

probably 12 guage, 20 amp max....the internet says it would max output 15 amps

Without knowing the voltage of the batteries your handing out shitty advice that could hurt people. Stop posting.

OP look at where the leads go. That will give u a clue. Otherwise determine the volts of the battery and do a conversion. 4 to 8 awg is probably fine as it should be overkill.

explain exactly how that would be dangerous

those batteries use 10 gauge wire.

Seriously, stop posting about shit that you have no idea about, as questions like "explain exactly how that would be dangerous" clearly demonstrate.

see, you are a moron, the voltage does not matter regarding the wire size, it's the amps faggot.

4 gauge wire would not fit in the ups, I know because I have one of those, it needs 10 gauge wire no less, while bigger would be fine, it is not needed.

seriously, by all means, share your vast knowledge on the subject

one more thing to add to this OP look at the pic you posted the wire size is clearly visible on the black wire 10AWG as I stated

While the original part looks like that, the image posted is not necessarily the exact part needed. I think that part applies to a different model.

I actually work for APC, OP. A replacement battery cartridge for that UPS is like $35 and is good for 5 years, suck up your masculinity and buy it.

For a long time they were $65+

I'd like to see a new one with warranty for $35, I'd return these ebay ones.

They still use the same wire size, I know as I said before I have the same model posted. 10AWG

also 1000 watts divided by 24 volts is 41 amps well within the capacity of 10awg.
