Put something on top of it. You cant do much more with particle board.

>> No.1497232

>>1497228
ugh, thin melamine over particle board.
>>1497230
Actually, you can. remove remaining melamine, sand smooth, multiple layers of wiping varnish, buff hard with steel wool between each layer. You'll get a nice durable finish on that cheap surface, but it will still look like particle board.

>particle board

yeah, put it out with the trash or put some plastic on it

Go look at fabric store, find a piece of faux leather or suede, glue it down and trim edges with razor blade.

It's melamine. Cheap melamine is quite thin.

Sand it down and apply a wood veneer ontop? Maybe a handheld wood planer would be quicker

yes, but if it was paper, the *paper* would tear. You'd see the unprinted, white, paper backing layer.
That's melamine.

Nice idea!

Looks like my workbench.

Only fix is to cover it with something.
I have seen folks use wood grain shelf paper and then put glass over it, and glued down laminate. One of my workmates covered his in sheet copper. Like the stuff you see in high end pubs/bars.

>>1497238
I do like that idea.

Get a cheap ass glass desk for a 100 on amazon. If you cant afford that what are you doing with your life.

Agreed on partial board
Not worth the effort to fix.
Tape this to the top of your desk.

if you're gonna go that far you may as well build a desk out of pallets or scrap lumber

>> No.1498540

Take the desk out side and get some vinyl or your choice.

Go buy some contact adhesive in a spray can.

Spray the contact adhesive on the desk surface that needs to be wrapped and on the back of material.

Let dry until you can stick your finger on it and it is not sticky.

Apply vinyl on to desk surface.

Never need a mouse pad again.

You can use small pieces arranged haphazardly to save money. Just don't, ya know, touch it.

>> No.1499927

I would say buy some fabric to go over it and maybe a thin glass pane to cover that? I've got some dark green fabric under a plastic desk mat that looks pretty good desu, covers the hideodorous stains well

or just get another cheap desk on craigslist for like 30 bucks
