Is sauna better if the walls have ceramic tiles on them or just wooden planks?
If the planks are a better choice, should they be lacquered with wood protection like Sadolin, or just ordinary clear oil with wax?
Can i use large egg shaped river stones instead of vulkan rocks?
How do i make the ventilation so that steam doesnt exit yet i get some air to breath and not drown?
What should i put in water that is splashed on the hot rocks? I was thinking putting the incense they use to sanctify things with, it smells good and relaxes me, others too, its probably why priests use it.
Is it dangerous to relax too much and almost fall asleep in a sauna?
Can i smoke and drink cold alcoholic beverages in the sauna and will it ruin the experience or make it better?

I have some money saved up and i want to build a sauna in the village home, my parents live there now and ill probably end up there when im older as well, i invest a lot in the property and would love to have a sauna to bring friends and thots to after a bbq or pig roasting, have my parents use it on their own when im not there. They will probably fuck a lot more and be happier overall.
I can get a lot of planks and cheap roofing, but i can turn a room in the house just for that and it would have tiles on the walls, if its a better option

might not be available to me but ok, no coatings, the entire thing might catch mold from all the humidity but ok
how do i do the ventilation, its the main concern
i highly doubt that there is no air intake
There has to be a way not to suffocate to death

>Is sauna better if the walls have ceramic tiles on them or just wooden planks?
Wooden planks absolutely.
>If the planks are a better choice, should they be lacquered with wood protection like Sadolin, or just ordinary clear oil with wax?
We have some specific sauna-sasu and such but in the olden days, and now too, the log saunas have none. Just use something that doesn't emit toxic fumes when heated up.
>Can i use large egg shaped river stones instead of vulkan rocks?
Yeah, as long as you don't use rocks with asbestos.
>How do i make the ventilation so that steam doesnt exit yet i get some air to breath and not drown?
Usually the doors to the sauna have some clearing or just have 100mm hole on the floor level and ceiling level.
>What should i put in water that is splashed on the hot rocks? I was thinking putting the incense they use to sanctify things with, it smells good and relaxes me, others too, its probably why priests use it.
I never use those.
>Is it dangerous to relax too much and almost fall asleep in a sauna?
Sort of if you have a continuous electric stove sauna. Wood stoved sauna will run out pretty fast. Never happened to me. Take an alarm clock with you if you're worried.
Can i smoke and drink cold alcoholic beverages in the sauna and will it ruin the experience or make it better?
Smokes probably ruin it but beverages are nice. People usually smoke when they go to cool off outside for a bit.
>I can get a lot of planks and cheap roofing, but i can turn a room in the house just for that and it would have tiles on the walls, if its a better option
You can turn a room to a sauna. You just need some sort of special steps.

The after heat will dry it up if it's done properly.

Here are some kits.

If you are set on using river rocks, bring them up to heat very very slowly and do it a few times over a period of days to get any moisture out of the rock or else it might explode when you heat it in the sauna or put water on it causing thermal shock.

>Is sauna better if the walls have ceramic tiles on them or just wooden planks?
Wood for the walls, and make sure you have no exposed nail or screw heads where you might touch them. Not deadly, but sucks and best avoided.
>If the planks are a better choice, should they be lacquered with wood protection like Sadolin, or just ordinary clear oil with wax?
Tikkurila sauna oil is very nice.
>Can i use large egg shaped river stones instead of vulkan rocks?
Yes, but not just any type. Here it's usually considered that river rocks washed ashore & sundried work best. And, y'know, nothing crumbly like dolomite.
>How do i make the ventilation so that steam doesnt exit yet i get some air to breath and not drown?
Don't aim for airtight, and have two windows on different walls, so you can clear the moisture when needed quick & easy.
>What should i put in water that is splashed on the hot rocks? I was thinking putting the incense they use to sanctify things with, it smells good and relaxes me, others too, its probably why priests use it.
Nothing. Ban people who try to bring eucalyptus or some shit. However, use of whisks which are first steeped in hot water gives a nice, natural herbal effect.
>Is it dangerous to relax too much and almost fall asleep in a sauna?
If it is cool enough to doze off, it's probably safe
>Can i smoke and drink cold alcoholic beverages in the sauna and will it ruin the experience or make it better?
Party sauna (booze) is different from relaxation sauna, which is different from proper sauna with a sauna master. Each has its uses. Proper sauna will have various whisks, temperature shifts etc - nigh unbearable for the saunee, but you feel born anew after.
>I can get a lot of planks and cheap roofing, but i can turn a room in the house just for that and it would have tiles on the walls, if its a better option
Now, I don't know yer climate, but a separate building allows for easier access to the outdoors - for snow or water.

I've just started looking in to making my own sauna. Having a hard time finding any guides or blueprints online.

Probably aiming for a traditional steam sauna with wood burning stove. Completely outdoors or in my 4-season porch. Smaller dimensions for just the wife and I.

Anyone have good site or diagrams to point me towards?

Thx

>> No.1485377

>>1485364
No diagrams from me, but make sure the stove is not too big. Mine is vastly too big, thus it takes like 5 hours to heat up, and keeps heat for a needless amount of time after.

Does wood briquette work better or worse?
it produces much more heat than the ordinary chopped wood

I built one last year out of stone and cement. The inside is lined with cedar. The floor and ceiling are epoxy. The cedar is bare, no sealant. No outside ventilation. I can only sit in there 29 minutes at a time. I wouldn't smoke in there. The fumes would penetrate the cracks and seems so it would smell like a ashtray. Be careful what stones you are using. Volcanic are safe. River rocks might contain moisture and explode.

>Is it dangerous to relax too much and almost fall asleep in a sauna?
Yes, you should never fall asleep in temperatures above 40C. In Finland people are never in the sauna for more than 10 minutes before you go outside to jump in the lake or whatever to cool off. But that's also because they like to heat them to 90C or some shit.

Don't throw your money away on bullshit like tiles. Just buy a bunch of untreated cedar and a decent stove that you can fill with water and has a bigass chimney. Also your stove should have an intake that connects to outside the building so its not interacting with your air at all
