Had this happen at our shop. Caused by two things:
1. The idiot operator left the screw jack under the car as he lowered it (at the front in this case)
2. The locks that keep those lifting arms locked in place were faulty allowing them to swing inwards even when a car was in the air.

In our case some guy had just paid for $2500 worth of work on his old maxima that was worth maybe $1000. Car is being lowered and the screw jack was under the tranny, the car starts tipping back and one or more of the arms that is no longer touching the car swings inwards. I wasnt there to see it but I heard the THUMP THUMP THUMP PTSSSSHHH THUMP as the car bounced between the lifting arms 4-5 times and the arms broke a window or two. Managed to ding nearly every body panel on the car. That "master tech" found himself another job within a few months of that.

no, even regular portland cement sets to be impermeable. nearly anyway, you still get very tiny amounts of water bleeding through micro capillaries unless you densify and add some kind of polymer to further reduce this. ponding doesnt add water in any significant amount that contributes to the final strength of the concrete. what it does it keep the concrete moist so it doesnt dry out. by this i mean, the surface stays wet which prevents the moisture bound in the concrete from evaporating, stopping the hydration reaction. its basically impossible to add water to concrete once it has set. they tell you to keep concrete wet and spray it with a hose from time to time because it slows down the evaporation of the water.

vibration densifies the concrete by shaking the air out of it and shaking the aggregate and cement particles into a more compact, strongly arranged configuration.
