Tbh OP it's been hell the last few years in Britain as they've gradually regulated the fingerbox market so that only the big players can afford the regulatory hurdles.

I used to sell 10-12 units a month and this worked out pretty profitable so I paid off all my tooling costs pretty quick, whereas a guy starting out now needs to buy UKAS traceable calipers, depth gauge, also has to submit 3 test pieces for destructive testing to ensure EU compliance and child safety. You're talking about 1000-2000GBP just to start out with a SINGLE model, SINGLE diameter, SINGLE grain. Really ruins the cottage industry that used to exist. At this point I honestly think it would even be easier to start making spoons instead, that is how ridiculous the safety aspect has become.
