I'm thinking about becoming self employed with some micro business. I live in a tourist area in germany with lots of potential customers in the summer.

I don't have money so it needs to be cheap and mostly diy. Something like selling Hotdogs, ice cream or hot/cold drinks.
- It has to be highly mobile, like bicycle or moped based.
- And it shouldn't demand more electricity than it can carry.
What are your thoughts on the vehicle/sales stand? Where to start? I do have a bicycle and hook up trailer and most basic tools. My budget could stretch to a few hundred dollars in total

Check local regulations. Most likely, there will be licensing and inspection issues to deal with. You may be able to rent the equipment on a daily/weekly/monthly basis. Souvenirs/hats/t-shirts might be a way around any food related regulatory issues. Maybe some local handicrafts by friends and family could be a cheap entry point.

Nobody's started a small business on a few hundred dollars since like the 1920s

Sell drinks not make food if you are low budget . Or possibly sell prepackaged food.

Or candles and soap and bath bombs. Bitches love candles.
The profit on health and beauty shit is good too.
For food you need a license a place to store the cart with necessary sanitation certifics.

Make your cart out of a trailer and pallet wood. It's cheap and rustic.

In LA the place is rife with Mexicans and blacks just selling prepackaged snacks and drinks, hotdogs etc.

You can't seriously tell me that all those Mexican hotdog stands have their food handling license.

Rig up just like pic related. Mod a junk freezer to hold ice and shit. Umbrelas for shade are nice. A solid battery setup run 3 1,000 watt ebike motors so they dont strain. 12v converter. A big one with several powered 2amp usb ports so people can charge phones and be forced to be around you plus drag their friends to you and make it look like a big deal. Run led lighting at night. Sell cans of pop and water. Stock cart behind you with chips and extra pop and shit. Sell GOOD battery pack cell phone chargers pre charged. Bangood sells cases for $6 with a bms and you van add lithium batts and screw together for cheaper.

Probably not, but if you sell food to the public you are subject to the same laws, inspections, licenses, etc. that any restaurant or fast food place is.

for example, in theory at least, all those taco trucks you see have to meet these requirements in LA county:

>> No.1388108

>>1387692
>all those Mexican hotdog stands

and here's the requirements for "pushcarts" in my hometown. for example, each one is supposedly associated with a commissary or restaurant which handles maintenance and cleaning, etc.

They can only prepare hotdogs at the actual cart or stand; everything else has to be pre-packaged at the restaurant. Trucks appear to be able to prepare other items on-site.

I like your attitude! That's the first hurdle. And my suggestion a couple bags of ice and a cooler full of pop can make a good chunk of coin on a hot day. Plus get some chips or snacks and it'll at least get you started.

Here some women make more than engineers, doctors and some lawyers if they find a good location, most of them are open at 4 am.
Downside: they use a lot of plastic bags and some "recycle" their water

>And it shouldn't demand more electricity than it can carry
Perhaps (in the future) you could put some solar battery because "muh environment" and get propaganda

Drinks are usually safe, you get to skirt a lot of food handling licensing in some areas, and the profit margins are pretty decent on them. Sell prepackaged food as well. One trick you can do if you have plastic bottles is freeze a few (assuming they are flexible enough to not explode) you keep them mixed in between the non frozen bottles and they melt throughout the day while keeping the other bottles cold. If you wanted to go all out you could likely source a freezer that would fit on the trailer, and you could keep one of those silent small generators on the side and run it intermittently as you need it.

Well first off stop trying to sound like some hip modern piece of shit. You want to own a hotdog stand, there, not fucking hard. Forget the physical apparatus and start learning finance and city health codes. Nothing else matters if you don't know how to earn a profit without filling a park with vomit.

Sell ice cream or cold drinks(juices, sodas, water) idk how's the weather on Germany in summer but if it is too hot this two are great to begin with.
> I do have a bicycle and hook up trailer
This is great to begin. Why? because you can move through the area and carry your products. Later you can customize your bike and add more stuff.

Add a beach umbrella like the pic related and carry if you can a camping chair
/small chair for you in the case of using a spot to stay (is tiresome to be stand up many hours), be polite, clean(products and personal hygiene), study your area(what else they need),check sanitary regulations.

I had a micro business and I started with a simple wooden box selling candies.

In my town we had a mobile hot dog stand till the women thought she needed a building. We also have a popcorn stand. The town had one shit ton of years ago but a few years back they put one up in the same spot on the sidewalk.

This town has a strange business trend also. You see a business pop up and 2-5 years later, its gone. Most of the businesses are also the same shit or once in a while something "new" that is stupid as hell.

Hi,

Im from Germany too.
Dont stres your mind with direct sale...
Catch some tourist with a local per pedes guidening through the Kiez and sell them some drinks from your backpack while walking.
You get a license for touristing very easy but not for selling something to eat or to drink...
Check the Verordnung zur Inverkehrbringung von Lebensmitteln im öffentlichen Berreich and get worried...
Even the guys with the wiener backpacks have a ton of regulation to fullfill.
Nothing there is easy.
