I wouldn't even bother with wood; just get some sheets of foamcore and mount the acoustic panels to it with spray glue or double sided tape. You can hang the panel like a picture if you cut a triangle out of the foam to hang from first.

You may actually be retarded anon

Do you understand the principle of mosaics? Hint: even though "it's just foam it's light" it is actually quite heavy when you combine all pieces. It also has a lot of surface area that isn't attached to the tape at all, i.e. the holes in the foam. Duct tape is not a miracle tape, and dries over time. It barely had anything to grip to and even if it held for a while it would have dried up very fast and fallen anyway.

Now use your noggin a moment, and go back to the mosaics. A backing surface would be perfect to distribute the weight of each foam block, and to apply a fixative that is actually going to last longer than a few moments. You could use anything as long as you use the correct fixative.

A plastic sheet, a large piece of cloth, plywood as some anons suggested. Then once you've chosen a backing material, you need to think of fixative. From there, you can hang it on the wall like a painting.

I think you've confused duct tape (primary role: sealing air conditioning ductwork) with gaffer tape (primary role: holding anything to anything else). Duct tape costs a few dollars per roll; gaffer tape costs roughly ten times as much - expect to pay around $20-40 for a 40 meter roll. The premium brand of gaffer tape is Nashua 357 - there are lots of look-alikes, but 357 is one of the film industry favourites for good reasons.

Meausre it to find the exact center.

Nail that board about 1/4th of the way down the first one, intersecting to make two 90 degree angle.

This next part gets smelly so take it outisde. Soak in kerosine. It sounds weird but it will help the foam stick to it.

Foam like that is porous. As a result you need to prep it to make it stick, or use a high tack spray adhesive. After that you can stick it to whatever you want so you can mount it to a wall.

>> No.1378656

Personally I like using 300LSE adhesive. It's a double sided transfer tape designed to stick to things that aren't sticky. It's even tolerant of sticking to oily surfaces, so if you're a cheetofingered NEET it will still work. Stick it to the mounting material, peel off the backing, and then attach the foam. Apply some pressure and that bond is permanent.

Yeah maybe something like sealent kit or something?

Because when I use normal spray adhesive it falls down again and that shit is way too expensive

Forget about prep. Try your luck on eBay and see if you can get 300LSE or some other form of Low Surface Energy adhesive or foam adhesive.

I will show you personally how well this works in pic related. This is with no prep.

Watch this if you want absolute adhesion of foam. An upholstery adhesive is what you want if you want permanent bonds.

anon it seems you're too sheltered/retarded to understand basic physics. or even common sense. All the people in the thread already told you that you need some sort of backing or grid for this, atleast for the foam wall to be rigid. Sewing won't work as it will be tough to keep the center of the foam wall rigid and somewhat flush with the wall. If you can't buy more these 'sticks' to make the backing then you should give up. Judging by your replies you're too much of a neet gaymen neckbeard to make alternate methods work as they require some diy skill and i'm sure you have negative skills.

you could use a staple gun but the amount of staples to keep this together will be fucking huge and the perforations from the staples will destroy the reflective properties of the foam.

i'm sure there's some sort of foam glue in the neetland where you live. just go to the fucking hardware store and ask the guys specifically for such stuff before you put the wrong stuff on your foam and end up dying from the fumes of the melting foam.

First off, get lots of wire mesh fencing and a car battery. You'll need approriate amounts of doos and screws and a car battery.

Build frames as tall as your room is, floor to ceiling and then 4 or 8 smaller frames for each the floor and ceiling.

With the fencing, buy as much is needed to cover the walls and ceiling in the room you want this in twice.

First off, affix 1 layer of the fencing over all the walls, floor and ceiling. If the room is carpeted, do not put over or under the carpet, it's going to be the 'weak spot'. Use small cable clips to achieve this quickly, or look into alternative options you may prefer. At your door, have the wire mesh come flush with the frame and stick out 1-2mm more than how thick the wood frame will be that you are using.

Once layer 1 is affixed to all applicable surfaces, you then place and secure all your wooden frames to cover all areas you wish to cover.

Take your sound proof foam and affix it inside the frames, smaller frames means easier to place foam. Larger frames will give better sound proofing.

Once foam is in place, do another layer of the mesh over that to make sure it can't call out. At the door frame either weild or connect all the mesh so both layers are connected.

Once all this is affixed, attack a care battery using jumper cables to a part of the mesh, you now have a sound proofed farady cage room. Fireproofing will be up to you and need to be done according to how you build your frames.

Get a thin sheet of particleboard, spray glue the foam, nail the board to the wall.
If you want to make it a little better, take a 0.5"x1" nail it horizontally to the wall and add an overhang at the top and spacer at the bottom to the particle board so you can just hang it on the 0.5"x1".

Do you eat food from a store? You probably toss out a lot of card stock in the form of boxes the food comes in. Cereal boxes have 2 nice large pieces of card stock on their front and back. Cardboard is everywhere. Just look in a store dumpster somewhere to find some big boxes with nice flat sides. You can glue multiple pieces of card stock/cardboard together to make a double ply piece that is as large as you like. Use wood glue/school glue instead of hot glue put gluing paper products together.

I'm not reading the thread, just quick replying since there's way too many posts for a thread of this nature. Meaning it is probably all fucked beyond belief or derailed.
