Vibration saw, it is supposed to be a light "chainsaw" for women, but I dunno, was working with that as a man and it was quite difficult to handle (kicks a lot and saws very slowly, I'd recommend an electric chainsaw for women instead).

It's a recipricating saw with a short stroke; not neccisarily just for use while gardening. Sold, and still sold as 'multi-function'.

DeWalt and Stanley have taken the pro-sumer market and the BnD brand is still a cashcow for the Stanley Black and Decker company so they have to bring something out with it. This weird ass thing is used to rake out fresh mortar in between brick. You literally fill mortar in between brick so that you can rake it back out nice and neat. It does leave a nice recessed mortar joint and does look good when done properly. Only should be done indoors as it is the worst weatherproofing mortar joint profile.

Love #1, putting threaded fittings on pipes with that spring loaded is much smoother than regular pipe wrench, use it all the time. Doesn't grip pipe so good, but fittings do great

#2, nice to have at hand to hold opposite end when tightening a nut and bolt assembly with ratchet/wrench/adjustable wrench, especial in small area, I've had a couple different kinds, but this particular HD one has been most durable so far
#3, real useful when you can't fit a ratchet, or for things like compression nut on pipe fitting when you'd have to use an open ended wrench regardless. Normally don't use them to full torque, just get them snug and then use wrench to finish.

Eh might as well try here first.

I have this Buffalo drill press that has been sitting unused. Decided to make a work bench and mount this thing.
I don't know much about it though. There's a little pulley mounted on it, I presume it's to help raise the platform which weighs a good 100lbs. But then behind the pulley is this other hoist thing (the aluminum bar stock with 3 holes drilled in it). What might that be for?

More to follow

Looks like a Buffalo Forge No. 15. The slow speed pulley looks to be shop made, as does the pulley guard up front. The depth stop has also been replaced. I don't know what is going on with your motor mounting situation. It looks to be in good condition, though. When I got mine it was covered in 4-5 layers of paint, was missing most of its pieces, had a horizontal only motor mounted to it, and the wrong kind of pulleys installed. It took me forever to get it all pulled apart and put back together again. Great drill though.

Me again. Those are T-slots. They are used for special mounting hardware and easily accommodate bolts. They are used when you really don't want the thing you are working with to move.

If you have a belt using the slow speed pulley you can't lower the head. You raise the table instead. Those were an add-on item. If you weren't using the slow speed pulley then you could lower the head by loosening the head lock lever and wiggling it down the column. Generally, it is the table you move up and down, not the head.

Armstrong is dead (or will be very soon), and their tools aren't that great as far as USA-made stuff goes in my opinion. Before going to China, a lot of Craftsman items (sockets, ratchets, full-polish wrenches, etc.) were made by Armstrong and essentially identical for a fraction of the price.

Their fine tooth locking flex ratchets are pretty nice, though, and were often considered unmatched for the prices you could get them for.

Okay so i received the 1/4 armstrong avaition ratchet and its got a good design and feel to it. Now the big problem about this ratchet is the retention ring on the drive head. So for example i put on a craftsman 5/16 socket and it'll get stuck because of the retention ring. Thinkin about returning this thing and just getting a snap on ratchet.

>> No.1254713

>>1254505
Weird, never heard of that problem. Seems like it would be a huge design flaw that wouldn't last very long. Is it just that small sockets actually fit down too far and end up inside of the ring?

I'm not sure how old your Craftsman sockets are, but the later USA ones (G and G2) were made in the same factory as Amrstrong sockets and identical in design, so I'd think they'd play nicely with an Armstrong ratchet.

>> No.1255455

>>1254713
I'm using the series they have on sell right now but i've managed to fix the problem by adusting the ring with a scribe. Yea it's a pretty major design flaw considering i have to adjust the ring just to get it to out good. I'm going to stay with the ratchet and i might as well hit armstrong up with the feedback though.

>Clamptite

made in USA too, but it's 72 dollars.

I might pick one up and toss it in the back of the car for emergency use. you can make a clamp from any wire including shirt hangers.

Basically it's because the drills are just regular power drills being used to attack safes, which will generally be made of a hearty steel. So you have a shitty Harbor Freight drill going a few thousand RPM when it should be going maybe say, 600 RPM. And that's with coolant, I don't recall if the drills in game had any sort of cooling system on them.
