Diy poverty pottery
I dug this clay out of my screen at work and now I want to make a mug out of it to celebrate the screen being clean for once. How do I fire it, how do I paint it? I can make the shape, I think. But I figured i'd ask you resourceful people for the shit I dont know. Thanks in advance.

Also I'll just say I have access to an oven and other general household shit so im not expecting a miracle. I'll be doing this in about 7 hours after work.

I have done this before, I used a campfire to bake my clay, but my dad said you can use a bbq or oven.

The key is the clay mixture. If it's too wet or dry when you bake it then it will crack, if there is too much or too little plant fibre it will crack, too much or too little sand and it will crack.

Best thing to do is just do it. I made some cool pots and mugs that cracked, but I just fixed them with some wood glue and varnish.

Just make sure before you bake it that it doesn't dry out super quickly, don't leave it in the sun or some dumb shit. Put a cloth over it and let it dry over night, then bake it.
